12 busted, P10.5-M drugs confiscated in Cordillera


CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police arrested drug personalities in Cordillera Dec. 11 to 17 while around P10.5  million worth of illegal drugs were found and burned in the region.
    The police Regional Operations Division bared Abra police nabbed six; three in Apayao, two in Kalinga and one in Baguio City.
    In Abra, nabbed were Carlos Reyes Jr., 25; Alexander Agtual, 45; Melvin Agtual, 35; Dominic Barcena, 44; Emmanuel Sabado, 24; and Rolando Aldaca Sr., 53.
    In Apayao, apprehended were Aileen Bali, 26; Francisca Bangngay, 37; and Guadles Marquez, 32.
     Maila Tayaan, 21, and a 15-year-old female minor were arrested in Kalinga while Ivan Aromin, 23 was arrested in Baguio.
    The weeklong anti-illegal drugs operations resulted in seizure of 62.76 grams of shabu and 10.00 grams of marijuana leaves all worth P427,968.
    All arrested suspects are now facing charges for violating Republic Act 9165 or Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002.
    Meanwhile, nine marijuana plantation sites were discovered in Benguet and Mt. Province.
    Police found 52,665 fully-grown marijuana plants worth P 10,533,000.
    All marijuana plants were uprooted and burned on sites by police while investigations are on to identify cultivators of said marijuana plantations.

12 ‘drug pushers’ held, P427,968 illegal drugs seized in Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet — A total of 62.76 grams of shabu, 10 grams of marijuana leaves and fruiting tops worth P427,968 were confiscated from 12 drug pushers who were arrested during anti-illegal operations in Cordillera Dec. 11 to Dec. 17.
Brig. Gen. Mafelino Bazar, regional director of the Police Regional Office-Cordillera said Abra Police Provincial Office arrested six drug pushers, while Apayao PPO arrested three drug suspects.
Two drug suspects were nabbed by Kalinga PPO and one was arrested by Baguio City Police Office.

2 houses razed in Ifugao town

    LAGAWE, Ifugao --  Firefighters assessed damage in a 2-hour fire in this capital town  worth P2 million here in Sitio Pukut, Barangay Cudog Dec. 19 and declared fire out the next day, the Bureau of Fire Protection-Lagawe reported.
The fire started in a furniture shop and later gutted two houses nearby.
No injuries were reported in the fire.
Shop owner Froilan Imayaho and house owners Fernan Gano and Kenny Ananayo appealed for immediate help such as clothing, food and household kits as their belongings were razed by the fire.
