BAGUIO CITY -- More than 1,600 accommodation establishments that had been accredited by the city government here to ensure safety of visitors.
The City Tourism Operations Office bared this saying some of these accommodation places are serviced residential units for families spending the Yuletide Season in the city.
The local government and Cordillera office of the Tourism department started accrediting accommodation establishments operating in the city to ensure businesses conform to standards.
City Tourism Operations Officer engineer Aloysius Mapalo urged visitors to first validate the legitimacy of the operations to prevent them from being victimized by booking scammers and guarantee hotels or transient houses practice the industry standards.
The local government continues to accredit transient homes and be included in the list of duly accredited accommodation facilities operating in the city.
Mapalo advised tourists to visit the city's travel application, Visitors Information and Travel Assistance, to be able to validate whether or not the accommodation establishment that they intend to stay in is duly recognized for the benefit of their safety and convenience while spending a vacation.
Earlier,
tourism industry stakeholders disclosed that almost all of the big hotels and
other accommodation establishments are fully booked during the Yuletide season,
which is an indication that the local tourism industry is on the mend since the
pandemic.
Recently,
Baguio played host to the Fil-Am invitational golf tournament where more than
1,300 amateur golfers from the Asia-Pacific region were in the city to play
golf at the Baguio Country Club and Camp John Hay fairways.
By next
year, the Baguio Flower Festival Foundation Inc. will resume the 27th edition
of the Panagbenga, the city's major crowd-drawing event on Feb. 25, 2023, and
the grand float parade on Feb. 26, 2023. This event will be followed by the
alumni homecoming of the Philippine Military Academy.
