Mt Province 16 percent: Covid-19 positivity rate up 57.9% in Kalinga: OCTA

TABUK CITY -- The positivity rate of Covid-19 in Kalinga province rose to 57.9 percent—way beyond the 5 percent threshold set by the World Health Organization (WHO), based on the latest monitoring of the OCTA Research.
In an update shared on social media on Dec.12, OCTA Research fellow Dr. Guido David said Kalinga’s positivity rate rose from 20.8 percent on Dec. 3 to 57.9 percent on Dec. 10.
The positivity rate refers to the number of individuals who yielded positive results from those who were tested for Covid-19.
The WHO recommended that the positivity rate should remain at 5 percent or less to show that the spread of the virus is under control.
David noted that Metro Manila’s positivity rate also went up from 12.4 percent to 14.4 percent.
The following areas also registered higher positivity rates in the past week:
Batangas (from 5.2 percent to 9.2 percent), Bulacan (6.8 percent to 8.3 percent), Cagayan (21.4 percent to 26.3 percent), Cavite (10.5 percent to 12.8 percent),
Mountain Province (11 percent to 16.7 percent), Nueva Ecija (39.1 percent to 49 percent), Pampanga (10.6 percent to 13.3 percent), Quezon (10.8 percent to 12.8 percent), Rizal (19.7 percent to 23 percent).
