BONTOC, Mountain Province – Winners were bared in the recent Chagsen Challenge to promote healthier way of living among employees of the municipal government and public of this capital town.
Mary Grace Nabayan emerged winner after losing a total of 16.8 kilos from the start of the contest in August 2022 until February 2023.
She will receive a cash prize of ₱7,500.
Second placer, Neil Lawrence Ilacad lost 10.6 kilos winning ₱5,000 while Estelita Aquino lost 6.8 kilos and will receive ₱2,000.
Jay Anne Taud and Henrietta Claire Lingbanan who won fourth and fifth place respectively lost 3.5 kilos and three kilo.
They are set to receive ₱1,500.00 each.
Brendyll Acocking and Aida Ubongen are set to receive ₱1,000 each for as sixth and seventh placers after losing 2.3 kilos and 2.1 kilo respectively.
Eighth placer Mary Juvy Tudlong lost 1 kilos and will receive an incentive of ₱500.
According to Municipal Nutrition Action Officer Venous Faith Cofulan of the Municipal Health Office said 105 participants registered but only eight made it to the final weigh-in last Feb. 17.
Cofulan added the registration of the Chagsen Challenge Part Two will run from March 1-31, 2023, at the MHO.
Chagsen Challenge 2023 Part 1 is the fifth edition of the “Chagsen Challenge” which was first introduced in 2019 by then Sangguniang Bayan member and now municipal mayor Jerome "Chagsen" Tudlong, Jr.
Tudlong was then the municipal council’s chairperson of the committee on health and sanitation in collaboration with the MHO.
Certificates of recognition were awarded by Mayor Tudlong and Municipal Health Officer, Dr. Diga Kay Gomez Monday at the Bontoc Municipal Capitol on Feb. 27.
