BAGUIO CITY — The Baguio City Police Office said Wednesday that traffic during the festivities of the Baguio Flower Festival or “Panagbenga” 2023 did not pose any problems for residents and tourists joining the festival.
The BCPO said that one factor of the minimal traffic jams in the city was the early issuance of traffic advisories, saying that it has been releasing advisories for traffic as early as January.
BCPO’s Traffic Enforcement Unit head Maj. Zacarias Dausen said the move contributed to the easement of the traffic as many did not bring their vehicles and many also followed the alternative routes that were provided.
Police said that during the Grand Street Dancing and Grand Float Parade, the crowd was easy to manage as it was smaller than in the past Panagbenga.
According to the BCPO, the total number of police deployed during the parades is 1085 and they were augmented by other groups from other government agencies and even schools making the total crowd control force to 1829.
Baguio police director Col Francisco Bulwayan Jr. said they observed the situation during the two parades was generally peaceful.
