Aboitiz projects set for dam folks

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet — Communities in the Ambuklao-Binga area will benefit from SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet, Inc.’s assistance programs following the company’s formal takeover of Ambuklao-Binga power plants, it was reported. Its most recent project in Barangay Ambuklao focused on health care.

Many residents benefited from free medical consultations and treatment provided by a SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc.’s medical team, company officials said. The company also sponsored another outreach project in Barangay Tinongdan, which is home to the 100-megawatt Binga power plant.

While the company has yet to take over the operations of the facilities, it has already brought in various projects that have enhanced lives of residents and indigenous people. Hydropower specialist SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc. also announced it will undertake corporate social responsibility (CSR) projects as soon as the company gains a firm foothold in the facility.

Sustainability and social equity investments are of major importance to SN Aboitiz Power-Benguet Inc. The company has integrated corporate social responsibility into its core business platform to forge partnership with its host communities. Aside from its CSR efforts in Ambuklao and Binga, it has also launched community initiatives in Ifugao, Isabela and Nueva Vizcaya.
