LAOAG CITY- A suspected murderer tagged by the police as responsible for a number of killings in the province, was arrested Tuesday.

Arrested before the New Year was alleged gun-for-hire Isaac G. Casay, alias Bigso, 39, married and resident of Barangay Sto. NiƱo, Nueva Era, Ilocos Norte.

Ilocos Region police director Chief Supt. Constante Azares Jr. Tuesday ordered police to investigate possible connection of the suspect to the ambush at Dingras, Ilocos Norte on Dec. 28 wherein a mayoralty candidate was killed.

Azares said combined elements of the Ilocos Norte PNP and Special Weapons and Tactics led by Supt. William Fang arrested Casay in Barangay Sto. Nino about 5 p.m.

Confiscated in his possession was a Cal. 5.56 baby Armalite rifle with defaced serial number.
Azares said Casay was a principal suspect in two recent murder cases in Ilocos Norte. He added he would enforce sustained implementation of the campaign to apprehend wanted persons and the drive against loose firearms in Region 1.

Senior Supt. Benjamin Lusad, Ilocos Norte police director, also said the suspect was behind the series of a number of killings in the province being a member of a dreaded “gun-for-hire” gang operating in the Ilocos region.
