Gen Pangilinan takes command of Nolcom

CAMP AQUINO, Tarlac City — Major General Gaudencio S. Pangilinan formally assumed July 8 the post of commander of the Armed Forces of the Philippines’ Northern Luzon Command (Nolcom) in simple turnover rites held at this camp.
The ceremony was witnessed by Department of National Defense Secretary Voltaire T. Gazmin.
Lt. General Ricardo A. David Jr. relinquished the post as Nolcom commander last July 3 but the formal turnover was done July 8.
Pangilinan, who belongs to Philippine Military Academy Class 1979, was formerly the Deputy Chief of Staff for Operations.
Pangilinan said in his acceptance speech that he will lead with utmost respect for the rights of every Filipino citizen, citing President Aquino’s advocacy for the military to be genuine protectors and servants of the people.
“Gaya nang sinabi ng ating Pangulong Aquino sa kanyang inaugural speech, kayo po ang aming “boss” na aming paglilingkuran sa abot ng aming kakayanan (As was said by President Aquino in his inaugural speech, you are our boss who we shall serve to the best of our ability),” Panglinan said.
