Natonin's abaca trade bullish; worth P18 M

NATONIN, Mountain Province– The Fiber Industry Development Authority confirmed recently that the abaca industry of this remote town could generate as much as P18 million a year.
Provincial Fiber Officer Raymond Tunac said the prospects are bright for this town as it can yield as much as one ton of high grade fiber per hectare.
“With 900 hectares allotted for such purpose and if sold at P20 per kilo, this could give the municipality up to P18 million a year which could be a big lift to the economic growth instrumental in helping improve the lives of people in such distant barangays.
To further promote abaca fiber, Tunac said the municipality will embark on the Sas-alliwa Festival on May 7 to 15.
Abaca is the One Town One Product of Natonin.
