6 nabbed in Abra for indiscriminate firing

BANGUED, Abra – Six males were nabbed here last week for indiscriminate firing.

A police report said an operation was conducted by the town police led byInsp. De Leon Galletes Ngoslab and Provincial Public Safety Company headed by Insp. Benedict Parrado at Bersamin Compound,Zone 5, Bangued, Abra on June 24 at about 9 p.m. after the arrested men fired their guns.

Arrested were Jonathan G. Balaleng, Benjamin D. Manzano, Patricio M. Ampal, Bernard L. Eagle, Manuel M. Competente and Mario M. Mayos, all laborers and residents of Galimuyod, Ilocos Sur.

The suspects were arrested at the residence of a certain Bobby Baroña.

Confiscated from the alleged perpetrators were an Elisco M16 baby Armalite rifle, Taurus Cal. 45 pistol with one magazine containing seven bullets, Armscore air rifle, an empty magazine for Cal. 45 and one spent shell for Cal 45 and another 10 spent shells for 5.56mm handgun.

Police investigation revealed the suspects were having a drinking spree when they suddenly fired their guns.

A case of alarm and scandal was filed against Balaleng before the Abra Provincial Prosecutors Office.

The five others were released from the custody of Bangued police. The suspect was presented to the court on June 27 as per order of provincial prosecutor Gerardo Tagura.
