Awards given to Ilocos PNP, NGOs, civilians

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union- Several deserving personnel of the Philippine national Police here were given awards by provincial police director Chief Supt. Franklin Jesus B. Bucayu last week.

The occasion was in celebration the 110th Police Service Anniversary with La Union First District Rep. Victor F. Ortega as guest of honor and speaker.

With the theme “SandaangTaon at SandekadangPaglilingkodngKapulisan, KaagapayangSambayananTungosaMatuwidnaDaan,” the event was participated in by regional police personnel, local government officials, heads of regional government agencies, nongovernment organizations, religious and civic leaders and Armed Forces of the Philippines officials.

Aside from deserving police personnel and units, the regional police chief also gave awards to government organizations and civilians.

The awardees were led by Ortega himself who was cited for his “major role in bringing into reality the construction and subsequent development of Camp Florendo.”

In his remarks, Bucayu congratulated the awardees, stressing that excellence in police service is not just about individual distinction but also about fulfilling daily duties, organizational unity and teamwork for a common purpose of public service.

Meanwhile, Ortega in his message thanked the police for making the region a safe place to live in, but also for bringing pride and honor to Region 1. -- Christian D. Supnad
