Dengue surges to 169% in Central Luzon towns

SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga — Department of Health-Center for Health Development in Region 3 revealed Tuesday dengue cases in Central Luzon surged to 11,853 or a 169-percent increase last year’s January to September figure.

DoH-CHD 3 spokesperson SherillAure said the number is one of the highest regional tallies of dengue cases in the country.

Bulacan leads the count with 3,836 dengue cases, followed by Pampanga – 2,899; then Nueva Ecija – 2,356; Tarlac – 1,481; Bataan –667; Zambales – 489; and then Aurora – 125.

The Ilocos Region also registered high dengue fatality rate even as officials said they were doing measures to abate the situation.

In the Cordillera, Health authorities number of afflicted was not as high as compared to the lowlands like Central Luzon and Ilocos regions.
