First student condotel rises in Baguio City

BAGUIO CITY – The first-ever student condotel in this mountain resort city that will provide affordable housing to the fast growing student population triggered by the expansion of higher education institutions is now operational in this mountain resort city.

The North Cambridge-Harvard building forms part of a 6-building community that will rise in Bakakeng Norte/Sur which will cater to the thousands of students flocking to the city to achieve their dreams of completing a descent education.

The first student condotel is an 8-storey building with approximately 288 units that is designed to serve more or less 3,000 students.

North Cambridge is Goshen Land’s latest master-planned project in the city as part of its contributions to address the problems on housing of students. Designed for the versatile student, North Cambridge is located near one of the most esteemed universities ofBaguio City, Saint Louis University Bakakeng campus as it also intends to put up 11 new school buildings in the area to help decongest the central business district area from the rapid growth of students every year.

University, The P200 million structure under the management and supervision of Goshen Land Capital boasts of a subdued modern elegance and a quiet charm that appeals, not only to
students, but young professionals and starting families.

Expected to rise near the North Cambridge-Harvard building which will start construction activities this year is Goshen’s North Cambridge-Princeton building which is also an 8-storey building with approximately 194 units with a total project cost of P105 million.

Once the six buildings of Goshen in the area will be completed, it will be able to significantly help address the housing backlog of the student population in the city.

The 1,750 unit cosmopolitan buildings offers both residential and commercial clusters with a bustling esplanade that offer a wide variety of restaurants, retail boutiques, neighborhood parks, quiet coffee shops and scenic panoramas which will not only help address the housing problems of the city but also contribute in enhancing the growth of the local tourism industry.

Lawyer Alexander L. Bangsoy, president and chief executive officer of Goshen Land Capital, said the huge investments being infused by the company to popularize the student condominium is part of the company’s contributions for the continuous development of the city and the expansion of development in the outskirts of the city to help decongest the already crowded central business districtarea.

The city government is encouraging prospective investors to consider developing the outskirts of the city or in neighboring towns of Benguet so that other areas will also be developed while helping in the relentless effort to bring development in potential investment sites outside the city so that it will not help in clogging the city and worsening its environmental problems.

Baguio has been designed for only 25,000 individuals but its population has grew to 301,000 during the night and over 700,000 during the day which is much more than what it can handle considering that it has a total land area of more or less 57.4 square kilometers.--
