Two executive heads from the Cordillera Administrative Region --  Pasil, Kalinga mayor James Edduba and Balbalan, Kalinga mayor Kenneth Dale Mangaong -- were among 172 outstanding local government  executives honored  during the recently held 14th National Sandugo Awards.

Sec. Enrique Ona of the Department of Health and Dr. Edwin Rodriguez of the Philippine Blood Coordinating Council presented the plaques of recognition to the awardees held at Heritage Hotel, Pasay City last week of July.

The awarding ceremonies  recognized local chief executives, among them having received the awards for the 10th time.  Edduba and  Mangaong, the only two mayor awardees from the  Cordillera  region since the Awards  started in 1998,  are two among 12 first  time municipal mayor awardees this year.

The other CAR local government unit  head is second time awardee  barangay captain FlordelizaMagkilat of Calaocan, Rizal, Kalinga.

The Sandugo outstanding local government  executive  awards is an initiative of the Department of Health to urge local government  executives   give their  full support to the  National Voluntary Blood Service Program.

It promotes  RA 7719-National Blood Services Act of 1994- which encourages the government, national agencies and private  organizations to  promote voluntary blood donation.
