BAGUIO
CITY A-- The historical sites and scenic spots in Camp John Hay here will soon
be more accessible to tourists as John Hay Management Corporation (JHMC), the
implementing arm of the Bases Conversion and Development Authority, has signed
an agreement with City Trails Corporation, a tourist service company that
offers an all-day transport pass to various tourist attractions in the city.
Dubbed
the “Highland Trails,” City Trails
Transport service will bring visitors to Camp John Hay as well as to The
Mansion, Mines View Park, Wright Park, Botanical Garden, Burnham Park, Easter
Weaving Room, Tam-awan Village, Lourdes Grotto, Woodcarvers’ Village, BenCab
Museum, and the Strawberry Farms at neighboring La Trinidad in Benguet.
Tourists
who want to avail of the Highland Trails may “hop on” City Trails’ specially designed vans at designated places
in the city and “hop off” at any one
of the destinations offered.
Each
van is equipped with a television set that will show informative videos about
each of the places along the route.
Tourists
who “hop off” at John Hay can visit
the Ampitheater and the historic Bell House Museum (where they can buy a
Historical Core tour ticket for P60, with discounts for students and BLISTT
residents).
They
may also try the nearby TreeTop Adventure with its zip line and other rides,
shop and enjoy a variety of international cuisine at the restaurants in the
Commissary area, Filling Station, and the Ayala Techno Hub. Or they may opt to
ride horses at the ShalanniKabadjo
traversing the Yellow Trail under the cover of the lush pine forest.
Tickets
are pegged at P350, inclusive of all destinations, are available at any of the
designated stops. Students and senior citizens may avail of a P100 discount. For more information, interested tourists may
contact City Trails at (074)-4230023, 0918-9571379, 0932-8499752 or at
www.citytrailscorp.com.
“Our partnership with City Trails will
certainly make the various tourist attractions in John Hay more accessible. It
would also make the visit of tourists more convenient as they need not worry
about parking spaces, traffic, and the like. We look forward to bringing Camp
John Hay closer to the people of Baguio and to all tourists.” JHMC President
and CEO Jamie Eloise Manzano-Agbayani, M.D. was quoted as saying,
Highland
Trails, the first of its kind in Baguio, has been endorsed by the City Tourism
Office as one innovative and unique solution to the city’s burgeoning traffic
woes. The service operates 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. from Wednesdays to Sundays.
