BANGUED, Abra — Police were deployed in critical sites here after the provincial government started Operation Plan Sinag-Tala (Oplan Sinag-Tala) to make elections next year peaceful and orderly.

Oplan Sinag-Tala is a deployment plan to intensify police operation and visibility to address all forms of criminal activities, particularly the proliferation of loose firearms, private armed groups (PAGs), arrest of wanted persons, motorcycle theft and motorcycle-riding criminals in the province.

It was conceived by the Abra Provincial Police Office (APPO).

It was proposed for adoption by the Provincial Peace and Order Council (PPOC) in its meeting last August in order to address the problems in Abra relative to criminality.

The Oplan Sinag-Tala will conduct mobile visibility patrols, establish checkpoints, fixed visibility points, and organize motorcycle cops to be deployed at identified staging areas for immediate action on the crime.

For the mechanics of the implementation of the Oplan Sinag-Tala, the Sangguniang Bayan passed Resolution No. 50 series of 2012 authored by SP Member Elmer Gayao and sponsored by SP Member Allen Brix Bachiller. Said resolution is requesting governor Eustaquio P. Bersamin to provide budgetary support to the plan in the amount of P350,000 as initial fund for checkpoint deployment.
