Worker buried alive belowSagada road

SAGADA, Mountain Province – A laborer of the ongoing Dantay- Sagada road project here was buried alive Nov. 13 when an old riprap wall 4.5 meters high collapsed  below the road where they were working..

Police identified the victim as Rufino  GundayTiyay, 36, single and native of  Mayabo, Tubo, Abra. 

Police reports revealed Tiyay was with  co-laborers and townmates Lito Gawigao and Doroteo Licawen  working on the foundation of  a parapet below  the said national road  at sitioIpis, Barangay Antadao when the accident happened. 

Licawen ran towards  sitioPegew to seek  help from other construction  laborers working on the  road project . 

           

Victim was retrieved around 10:30 a.m. and brought  toBontoc  General Hospital  declared pronounced dead on arrival. 

           

The body of the victim was brought to  Mayabo, around 5:30 pm on the same day.
