Cagayan mayor survives ambush

TUGUEGARAO CITY – The mayor of the interior Cagayan town of Rizal, along with some companions, survived an ambush while cruising a village road before dawn last Monday, authorities said.

Rizal Mayor Joel Ruma also survived two previous slay attempts which he said were related to the latest assault.

Rama said they had come from a meeting with villagers on inter-agency tree planting activities this Friday with Rep. Randolph Ting as their guest of honor, when they were fired upon with M-16 Armalite rifles.
