BARLIG, Mountain Province -- Students of elementary schools in this municipality recently received school supplies donated by the National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) taking part in the Balik Eskwela Program in cooperation with the office of Mountain Province Rep. Maximo B. Dalog.

The NGCP is a private corporation in the Philippines catering to the improvement, expansion, operation and maintenance of the nationwide transmission system as well as of the sub-transmission system which have not yet been disposed by TransCo.

It also has other programs like the Balik Eskwela Program aimed at helping develop communities in barangays hosting their transmission facilities.

Dalog said he made a request for the school supplies from the NGCP after he learned about the organization’s Balik Eskwela assistance program.

He said each student received a set of five notebooks, three pencils and an eco-friendly bag with safety reminders written on the back cover regarding the protection of transmission lines to avoid unexpected power interruptions.

“Our children are our hope as they are our future leaders thus it is important that we support and cater to their educational needs from day one of their schooling until they graduate,” Dalog said.

The following were school-recipients and the total number of students who received said school supplies: Kaleo Elementary School-104, Ogo-og Elementary School-85, Lunas Primary School-41, Kadaclan Elementary School-107, Latang Primary School-41 and Barlig Central School-240.

The distribution of school items was witnessed by Mountain Province DepEd Administrative Officer Virginia A. Batan and Barlig District Schools Supervisor Juliana D. Goc-oban including the parents, faculty and staff of said schools.

Other schools which were not covered by the program will be the next recipients when additional supplies will be granted by the NGCP.
