Retired
cop shot dead in Kalinga
BALBALAN, Kalinga – A retired cop was shot
dead here on Sept. 9 by still unidentified perperators.
A
police report said the incident happened about 8 a.m. in Sitio Balala, Barangay
Mabaca wherein the victim was identified as Jaime Sibayan, 56, resident of
Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga.
Investigation disclosed that the victim together with a certain Isidro
Banggawan, A Department of Environment and Natural rEsources employee, while on
their way home to Poblacion were
suddenly shot by unidentified men several times using high powered firearms
that caused his instant death.
The victim’s body was
subjected to post mortem examination foe lads on the killing.

million marijuana burned in Kibungan
KIBUNGAN, Benguet – Police confiscated 20
kilos of dried marijuana leaves valued at P550,000 in a shack here at
SitioLibbeng, Barangay Badeo on Jan. 8.
Police said the
contraband was placed in a jute sack with two kilos of marijuana seeds.
The illegal drugs
were burned on site by who troops left the area after the
operation.
P50,000
reward offered in HS student’s killing
ANDA, Pangasinan – The municipal government
here has put up a P50,000 reward for information leading to the arrest of those
behind the killing of a 16-year-old high school student in her house afternoon
of Sept. 7.
PO2 Rodrigo Gacayan
said Mayor Aldrin Celdran made this offer last Monday, two days after Ma. Julie
Carlit was found dead with 17 stab wounds in her residence in Barangay Awag.
Posters about the
reward and the call for justice for Carlit are scattered across the town.
Carlit, an honor
student in the St. Nicho-lasAnda Integrated School, lived alone as her siblings
resided in different places.
Her aunt, Arlene
Carlit, who lived at least 150 meters away, said she heard a shout for help
that afternoon, and when she rushed to her niece’s house, she found her
lifeless with multiple stab wounds and a rope tied around her neck.
The victim’s
belongings were in disarray, prompting police to believe that she fought back
with her assailant.
Gacayan said they are
pursuing a vital lead that could solve the case, but he refused to provide
details.
Man
nabbed for frustrated homicide
LAGAWE, Ifugao – Police arrested Sept. 9, a
man wanted for frustrated homicide in this town.
Police arrested
arrested Marlon Bulayongan, 29, resident of Sitio Wadwad, Natuwolan, Lagawe at
his residence following a warrant issued against him by Judge Joseph Baguilat
of Regional Trial Court, Lagawe.
Bulayongan, listed No.
8 most wanted person in the town posted bail.
Young
man ends life over love problem
BAGUIO CITY – A love problem reportedly drove
a man to commit suicide here after trying to end his life many times.
Police
said Giovanni S. Burgos, 25, resident of Barangay GuisadSurong was found by his
mother Corazon hanging lifeless in their kitchen about 6 a.m. of Sept. 9.
Police said Bugos
ended his life around 8:45 p.m. of
Sept.8, to 6 a.m.
Ms Burgos said her
son always tried to commit suicide every time he had love problem, and said
incident was the fourth time the victim tried to commit same.
The victim’s body was
brought to La Paz Funeral Homes for post mortem examination.

pupils drown in fishpond
BAYAMBANG, Pangasinan – Two nine-year-old
elementary pupils drowned in a fishpond in Barangay Sancagulis, here, Tuesday
afternoon.
Victims were
identified as John Elmer Jimenez y Junio and Eric Baniqued y Garcia of nearby
Barangay Bical Sur and both in Grade 4. John and Eric, together with two other
classmates, Eugene Ray Datuin and Nemuel Dave Matabang, went for a swim after
an early dismissal from class at around 11 a.m.
Illegal firearms, ammunitions seized
in Cordillera operations
CAMP DANGWA, La
Trinidad, Benguet – Police confiscated several firearms, ammunition and drug
paraphernalia in the region last week.
Personnel of the
Provincial Public safety Company (PPSC) 2nd Platoon led by Insp. Richard
Soliven through a warrant issued by Judge Joseph A. Patnaan, arrested Angel
Isidro Moises alias Darondon Sept. 8.
The suspect’s
residence in SitioDinalogan, Barangay Buringal, Paracelis, Mountain Province
was searched with Barangay KagawadRomy P. Bagingan and Jerry S. Abalos of
SitioDinalogan, Barangay Buringal, Paracelis as witnesses.
Confiscated were a Cal
.22 Winchester US rifle; Cal .22 revolver; 1 Cal. 38 Smith and Wesson revolver
without SN placed inside one camouflage holster; Cal. 45 pistol with a magazine
and 19 bullets. Isidro was not in his house at the tome of the search.
Meanwhile, joint
personnel of the Abra Provincial Intelligence Branch, Provincial Public Safety
Company and Bangued Municipal Police Station in coordination with the PDEA-CAR
executed a search warrant issued by Judge RaphielAlzate against drug
personalities named Jimmy and Jun jun Bayle,
both residents of Barangay South Calaba, Bangued, Abra on Sept. 7
Seized at the
residence of Jun Jun Bayle were; 1 M1 Garand rifle; 2 black holster; 1 blue
Nokia 1280 with charger and sim card; 1 transparent plastic sachet; 43 rolls of
aluminum foil; 5 pcs used aluminum foils, 2 license plates for motorcycles
(7526 A and 7501 NO); 1 Motorstar Motorcycle; 2 lighters; 1 bottle containing
potassium nitrate (explosive component) and 1 camouflage jacket.
While search at Jimmy
Bayle yielded 1 Cal .45 Colt MK IV with SN 991435 with one round of ammunition;
6 rounds of ammunition for Cal 5.56; 1 extended magazine for Cal .45; 1 spent
shell for Cal .45; 1 plastic sachet containing several transparent plastic
sachets and 3 Cellular phones.
Senior Supt. Benjamin
M. Lusad, Abra provincial director said suspects were not located.
Nevertheless, one
Federico O’reillyPadagasa.k.a “Peter”, 30, a resident of the same barangay, was
seen inside the house of Junjun, arrested and reportedly turned out to be
positive for use of illegal drug.
Barangay chairman Romulo Burton and Arnel Adriatico,
media representative from DZPA radio station, witnessed the search.
On the other
hand, a 33-year old government employee and a resident of Agbannawag, Tabuk
City, Kalinga was arrested along Mayangao St., Dagupan Centro, Tabuk City after
not showing a license to possess and/or carry a firearm on Spt. 7.
Senior Supt. John
Colino, provincial police director of Kalinga, identified the person as
Jonathan Angnganay Pan-oy. Confiscated from his direct possession was a Cal. 45
pistol with five bullets.
Charges are being
prepared against the suspects.

wanted persons arrested by cops
CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet –
Fifteen wanted persons were arrested in the Cordillera last week.
In Abra, Senior Supt. Benjamin M. Lusad,
provincial director, identified the No. 1 top most wanted person in the
municipality of Bangued as Marco Bosque Buenafe alias Mal-ong, 29, farmer, who
was arrested at his residence in Barangay Cabuloan, Bangued for murder.
He went into hiding
after he was implicated as a suspect in stabbing to death of Amado Bulda on
Sept. 7, 2006.
In Mt. Province,
Senior Supt. William W. Viteño, provincial police director identified the No. 9 TMWP in Paracelis town
as Roger Catarig Monong, 34, of Barangay Bagabag, Buringal.
He was arrested for
illegal possession of firearms at the Junction of Dagawe, Poblacion, Paracelis.
In Apayao, Senior
Supt. Alberlito Garcia, provincial police director director, identified the No.
10 TMWP in the municipality of Flora as JoemarPascual, Francisco, 28, and a
resident of Bolala Norte, Aparri, Cagayan.
He was arrested in
Barangay Nararagan, Ballesteros, Cagayan for robbery with force upon things.
Twelve other wanted
persons were nabbed for various crimes.
They were identified
as Jimmy Flores De Jesus, 56, resident of Barangay Quinarayan, Narvacan, Ilocos
Sur who was arrested by the joint operatives of the Abra PPO and Narvacan MPS
for the crime of kidnapping with frustrated murder and physical injury.
Alfie Donato Chamos, 23,
farmer and a resident of Barangay Kesbeng, La Trinidad, Benguet was arrested at
Justice Hill, Kesbeng, Poblacion, La Trinidad, Benguet while Loreto Bete Bagano
aka. Leo Valencia, 46, was arrested in front of Star Wood Hotel, Kisad Road,
Baguio City for attempted robbery with violence.
The court issued a
recommended bail bond of P80, 000 and P50, 000 respectively for his temporary
liberty.
Also arrested for
estafa were EmiluzCalara Aquino, 31, businesswoman, who was nabbed at her
residence in Arciaga St., Baguio City; Victor AlingbasBelino, 49, farmer,
resident of Balili, La Trinidad Benguet, and Virginia Talco Banzuela, 52,who
was arrested along Marcos Highway,
Baguio City.
Ernesto B. Boocan, 42,
was also arrested at his residence in Barangay Liwo, Mayoyao, Ifugao for rape;
Bryan Ananey Bendoza, 25, of Shilan, La
Trinidad, Benguet was arrested at his residence also for the crime of rape.
while Wilfredo Singapan Bayang Jr., 26, of barangay Dolowong, Alfonso Lista,
Ifugao was arrested at his residence for attempted homicide.
Three minors (aged 16
and 17) were also arrested in Abra for robbery frustrated murder by police.
A 17-year old was also
nabbed arrested in Tabuk City, Kalinga for acts of lasciviousness.
Firearms,
drugs seized in Abra
BANGUED, Abra -- The intensified anti-crime
campaign launched recently by the Police Regional Office-Cordillera
Administrative Region resulted in the seizure of high powered guns, explosives,
and illegal drugs last week.
Senior Supt. Benjamin
Lusad reported that police operatives and agents of the Philippine Drug
Enforcement Agency (PDEA) said rifles, pistols, assorted ammunition, and
sachets of shabu were allegedly seized from the house of two wanted drug
personalities in Barangay South Calaba, this town.
The search of the
house of Jimmy and Junjun Bayle was covered by a warrant issued by the court.

teachers killed in highway accident
URDANETA CITY, Pangasinan – Two female
teachers were killed Sept. 6 when a southbound Dagupan Bus Liner bumped the
tricycle they were riding, sending it to the northbound lane where an oncoming
Isuzu 14-wheeler crushed it on the national highway in Barangay Nancayasan,
this city.
Police identified the
victims as Vivian Villamil Sabangan, 45, married, and Dominga Sabangan Baniquid,
of legal age, married, both residents of Barangay Langirin, Bayambang
municipality.
The highway accident
happened at 4:49 p.m. as the two teachers were traveling in the tricycle
(AW-9906) driven by Abon A. Sabangan, who was injured and taken to the Urdaneta
District Hospital for treatment.
Multiple
break-ins reported in Baguio
BAGUIO CITY – A police officer assigned at
the Pasay police lost his automatic Israeli-made Galil rifle to thieves here
last week.
Chief Insp.
Felimon Cacap, assigned at the Southern Police District in Pasay City, lost his
rifle during Baguio City's Charter Day.
Baguio police said the
break-in occurred between 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. in Purok 27, Upper Irisan, Baguio
City.
Police discovered that
the padlock of the victims' main door was missing and their personal belongings
in disarray.
The automatic rifle of
Cacap, five cellular phones, two Asus laptops and a digital camera were
missing.
Meanwhile, still that
Sunday, 32-year-old reflexologist TitaTungpalan lost her bag right inside her
office at the 2nd floor of Maharlika Building located along Magsaysay Avenue
where the Baguio City Day parade took place.
A computer shop along
Naguilian Road, Lourdes Extension Subdivision was also robbed, with thieves
swiping five computer monitors, seven computer central processing units and
three keyboards.
Moreover, along
Naguillan Road here, 42-year-old Irene Cauagas Borres reported that an
unidentified suspect detached the jalousies of the window near their main door
and reached the door lock of their house.
The victim’s daughter,
Jhayfer Anne, was awakened and the suspect fled.
Their personal
belongings were scattered outside the room and their P40,000 cash and four
cellular phones were missing.
Despite the successes of
policemen running after robbers, thieves and burglars in the city with the
arrest of almost a dozen already, such incidents still abound prompting
concern among authorities.
Such prompted
Councilor Roberto Ortega, Sr., a former police colonel, to propose before city
officials a million-peso reward to every criminal tipped by residents to
authorities.
PARACELIS,
Mountain Province -- Three suspects involved in a robbery with homicide case
were arrested inside their hideout here at Sitio Central, Barangay Poblacion
August 29 by joint operatives of the Mt. Province Public Safety Company, 2nd Platoon and Cordon Municipal Police Station.
Senior Supt WiIlliam Viteno, provincial police
director identified the suspects as JhonJhon Lopez Immatong, 27, farmer of
Kinakin, Banaue, Ifugao; Jefrey Dibilan Lopez, 30, of Poblacion, Paracelis
and Gilbert Immatong Lopez, 29, of Kinakin, Ifugao now residing at
Diadi, Nueva Viscaya.
Viteno
said the suspects were believed involved in robbing a retired police officer in
his residence at Barangay Quirino, Cordon, Isabela last August 6 taking with
them a Ca. 380 with one magazine and cash amounting to P109,000.00.
They
were also tagged in the killing of a 22-year- old cashier.
The
suspects with with recovered items were taken under custody of Cordon police.
