Rep Aliping’s foundation holds medical mission

BAGUIO
CITY -- The Baguio Congressman's Social Responsibility Foundation conducted a
medical and dental mission Oct. 13 at Barangay Irisan benefiting close to 500
indigent families at the vicinity of the city dumpsite.
The
mission was headed by Dr. Alex Alcantara and Joseph Cabato wherein
classrooms were converted to clinics as well as laboratories.
Clinics that were set up included
dental, optical, medical, pedia,
including a triage, a laboratory and two pharmacies.
It was joined by 150 volunteers composed
of barangay officials, professionals serving as clerks, doctors from the Baguio
- Benguet Medical Society,, medical technologists from the Cabato Medical
Clinic, student nurses from SLU and nurses from different hospitals and
clinics, Baguio General Hospital's Dr.
Ricardo Runez and OIC chief Nurse Jing Datud.
Rep. Nicasio Aliping, Jr. said was first
of a series of medical missions that will be done by the foundation.
Aliping added the next medical mission
will be on March during his birthday celebration.
"Instead of a party, medical
mission would be a better way to celebrate," the congressman said.
He revealed that he will invite indigent
patients from different barangays in Baguio through barangay officials.
The Medical and Dental Mission was
sponsored by Baguio-Benguet Medical Society, SLU College of Nursing,
Phyto-Pharm, Cabato Medical Clinic, Nothcross Laboratory, BD Scientifica, EMS-
Baguio, Pines City College of Dentistry, Baguio General Hospital, DOH-CAR,
PAGCOR, Dr. Jun Dizon and JCI Sunflower.
Aliping said the foundation will source
out funds to support social
responsibility projects that can't be supported by government funds.
He revealed that with the PDAF being
removed from the funds of the Congress, the foundation will be useful in
giving immediate help to constituents in
need.
"The foundation will be supported
by personal and corporate donations, not from government funds," the congressman
said.
