TANUDAN, Kalinga -- The Kalinga Electric
Cooperative is connecting more barangays of this town to main electric grid.
Corazon Tomas, KAELCO
general manager, reported two sitios of Taloctoc were electrified with power last week.
“We now move to
Mangali to electrify its five barangays including sitio Banagao at Poblacion,
the seat of the municipal government,” she said.
Personnel of the KAELCO are now in Mangali to consult with the people regarding the
connection to the main grid of remaining off-grid barangays in Upper Tanudan.
The meetings to be
conducted at barangays Anggacan, Anggacan Sur, Mangali Centro, Lower Mangali
and Poblacion, are aimed to inform
prospective consumers of their obligations, safety tips, organization of their
power associations and their counterpart on maintenance.
KAELCO plans to electrify all the barangays of Tanudan
until 2016, the time table set by President Aquino to complete the energization
program of government.
Tomas expressed hope
that the road towards the remaining un-energized barangays particularly
Lubo, Gaang and Dacalan will be opened
to hasten electrification.
According to her,
power routes usually follow road networks.
