Nephew hacks uncle dead in Umingan

CAMP FLORENDO, La Union- A 67 years old man was hacked dead Monday by his own nephew in Diket, Umingan, Pangasinan.

 Police report reaching the PNP regional Office here identified the victim as Leonardo Maxion while the suspect was identified as Reynald Maxion,26  carpenter, both residents of said barangay.

nvestigation conducted by Umingan police disclosed that victim was working at his farm when he was approached by his nephew (suspect) and confronted regarding the poisoned chickens of suspect’s parents The victim got irked and allegedly grabbed a piece of wooden stick from his wife who was standing beside him then beat the suspect’s arm.

The suspect retaliated, drew a bladed weapon and hacked the victim several times hitting his head, face and shoulder.

The victim was brought to Umingan Community Hospital for treatment but was pronounced dead-on-arrival by the attending physician.

The suspect voluntarily surrendered to Barangay Captain Raymundo Serdeniola of Diket municipality while the weapon used was recovered by responding police officers.

Motive of the incident emanated from land dispute, police added.
