TABUK CITY, Kalinga --   Acting on reports some government schools in the province have principals who are occasionally out on official trips,  the Kalinga division office moved for  designation on acting capacities of school bookkeepers to do the former’s  job.

Schools Division superintendent Caroline Verano, designated bookkeepers will now transact business with Dept. of Education branches  and other offices  instead of  principals who must stay in the schools to attend to their regular work.

The step was taken by the division office after visits to school districts before school year 2013-2014 ended.
“This maybe added load to designated personnel but we have to take action to address the situation so quality education, based on on-hand supervision by principals will not be compromised,” Verano said. “Designation of school bookkeepers, she said, will start for school year 2014-2015.”

Verano instructed schools under the division to make necessary adjustments on designations saying the move is covered by the intent of the DepEd to deliver services.

Verano also cited other situations when the principal should be present in school to act as substitute for teachers who are absent for the day so classes will not be disrupted.
