KPH celebrates 44th anniversary with free services

TABUK CITY, Kalinga -- The Kalinga Provincial
Hospital (KPH), celebrated its 44th founding anniversary on June 26 with a
four-day free medical services for indigents of the province.
Dr. Maria Rhoda
Bravo, Medical Officer IV of KPH, said the event started with “Pedia Day”
at KPH Intensive Care Unit on June 25 followed with day-long free
pediatrics services for poor beneficiaries.
June 26 was
medical service for the 40 and above for sugar count test and
free medical consultation.
June 27 was
“OBGYN and Surgery Day.” Activities included blessing of the newly renovated
facilities and park light of the hospital, OBGYN free consultation and free
minor operations.
Beneficiaries were
screened prior to the event.
June 28 was
“Family Day” with a magic show and visit of Jollibee and staff and fun games
for children.
With the theme
‘KPH: Growing better at 44 years, the event according to Bravo was intended to
give recognition to people who made KPH what it is today.
KPH is
a 100 bed capacity hospital but based on a daily census, it is
providing services from 120 to 140 patients daily.
Bravo said with
the approval of the provincial budget, the KPH is also improving
its Philippine Health Insurance Corporation (PhilHealth) universal
care efforts.
Indigent patients from
Kalinga she said with no Philhealth are automatically enrolled when they are
confined at the hospital through the sponsorship of the provincial government.
Beneficiaries were
profiled for recording purposes.
Through events like
this, Bravo said patient need not pay bills once they are discharged from the
hospital.
