B’gay treasurer nabbed for heist

MAGSINGAL, Ilocos Sur- Police arrested Monday a barangay treasurer whom they accused of allegedly masterminding a P139,000 robbery hold-up in this town.

Senior Supt. Nestor Felix, town police chief, reported to Chief Supt. Roman Felix, Ilocos Sur police director, they arrested Edgar C. Pablico, 42, treasurer of Barangay San Vicente here after they learned Pablico was the brains of a recent robbery hold-up in this town.

Mario B. Urban, 59,  barangay chief of San Vicente here,  together with Pablico were on their way home onboard a motorcycle at around 2:20 p.m. of Dec. 17 when two unidentified male suspected robbers suddenly blocked their path along the national highway in Barangay Parada, Sto. Domingo, and robbed them.

 The suspects allegedly pointed at them a Cal. 45 handgun and hastily grabbed a red envelope containing cash amounting to P135,741.33 and Land Bank check worth P3,120.49.

Investigation of Sto. Domingo police bared Pablico was the brain of said incident.

 The accusation against Pablico was reportedly backed by testimonies of witnesses to include sworn statement of the acting punong barangay.
