Black Nazarene replica in Laoag also‘miraculous’

LAOAG CITY, Ilocos Norte — Hundreds of devotees participated in the vigil and adoration to the image of the “Black Nazarene” in Barangay 2, here, which many believe to be a miraculous replica of the original one in Quiapo, Manila.

A concelebrated mass was offered at the house of Minda Jacinto, who owns the replica last Friday evening, gathering devotees from this province. It was followed by a procession and the vigil.

Jacinto, a survivor of a severe illnesses and a long-time devotee of the Black Nazarene, said the feast of Black Nazarene has become a celebration at her own residence because of her replica of the revered image of Jesus Christ.

“We have a lot of visitors from Cagayan and Ilocos provinces and even from Manila during the time of the annual feast of the Black Nazarene,” she said. “They join us in our vigil, adoration and procession activities at my residence.”

She said many of those who come have found solace in the replica she owns and there are some who say they were healed of their sickness.

Jacinto said the celebration of the feast of the Black Nazarene is one of her vocation as she claims to have already experienced God’s miracle through her devotion to the original image in Quiapo Church.
