Cop gunned down in Pangasinan
INFANTA,
Pangasinan – A police officer was shot dead by unidentified assailants here
Monday.
Police Officer 3 Steve Lacap, 35, was found
with a gunshot to the head beside his motorcycle in Barangay Bamban.
Lacap was on his way to work when he was
killed, according to case investigator Police Officer 2 Marvin Bucat.
Probers recovered a bullet shell at the crime

Buttered chicken downs 4 students
BAGUIO
CITY – Four students taking up a degree in hotel and restaurant management were
hospitalized after eating a chicken dish in as hotel here on Tuesday.
The students – Andrea Jimenez, Hana Joy
Jimenez, Melisa Nabor and Rose Marie Velasquez, all of Gapan City in Nueva
Ecija – who were training at the hotel, suffered vomiting and abdominal pains
after eating the buttered chicken cooked by their instructor on Monday.
Milka Navarro, a doctor at the Baguio General
Hospital and Medical Center, said the students were dehydrated due to vomiting.
Jimenez has been discharged while the three
others remained confined.
2 dead, 1 hurt in motorcycle crashes
TUGUEGARAO
CITY – Two persons died while an Army soldier was seriously injured in separate
vehicular accidents recently in Nueva Vizcaya and Isabela.
Marlon Garo Jr., 21, died at the scene after
his motorcycle collided with a bus driven by Johnny Borja, 55, in Bagabag,
Nueva Vizcaya at around noon.
Case investigator Police Officer 3 Renzy Yarcia
said Garo tried to overtake another vehicle in Barangay Baretbet.
Garo’s passenger, Pfc. Ronald Tawagon, 37,
was taken to the PLT Hospital in Solano town where he was reported to be in
critical condition.
Responding police officers arrested Borja.
In Isabela, farmer Jerry Villanueva, 49, died
when his motorcycle collided with a cart in Echague town.
Villanueva was driving at top speed when he
figured in the accident in Barangay Pangal Sur, according to Chief Inspector
Gerald Gamboa, town police chief.

Two men nabbed for attempted murder
TABUK
CITY, Kalinga – Cops nabbed two men here at Maledda, Ipil Tuesday for attempted
murder. The suspects were identified as David Cuaresma and Tongdonen Guisoben.

Branch 25, 2nd Judicial Region, Tabuk City, Kalinga issued earlier arrest
warrants for their arrest.
Missing P8K a mystery at Ganza
Restaurant
BAGUIO
CITY – Police are trying to unravel the mystery of how a thief ran away with
P8,180 cash in a cabinet of the Ganza Restaurant art Burnham Park here on
Monday.
A police report said at about 5:30 a.m. that
day, Edna LazarteGrajo, 55 , officer-in-charge, was victimized by unidentified
suspect who stole the money.
Investigation disclosed the establishment was
closed at 10 p.m. Jan. 10 after Grajo and other employees cleaned the
restaurant.
A certain Editha Baptista Gonzaga reportedly
placed the cash inside two tin cans and left it inside their cabinet and locked
the same. At around 5:30 a.m. on Monday, Ezad Goban Viernes, kitchen personnel,
reportedly opened the establishment and
noticed that the two cans were empty on top of the counter prompting him
to call the incoming cashier who confirmed that the two cans contained the
cash.
Gonzaga arrived and confirmed that their cash
collection was already gone. It was revealed that the suspect opened the
cabinet with the use of its own key which was kept in a place only known by the
cashiers. The padlock of the cabinet was found inside the place where the key
was secretly kept with the key still inserted on it. Responding cops found no
fingerprints. There was no CCTV installed in the place. The establishment is
manned by a security guard who claimed that he did not notice any untoward
incident while he was on duty.
Warrants served against man for
incestuous rape

Ifugao – Police served three arrest warrants Monday against a certain Jay John
Alindayo Lavarias, 43 of Poblacion Sur, Maddela, Quirino for incestuous rape
and acts of lasciviousness. Lavarious was arrested served the arrest warrants
at the provincial jail at Tiger Hill where he was incarcerated.
Architect nabbed for violation of SSS

System Law. The suspect was named as Lyndon

First Judicial Region, La Paz Abra issued warrant for his arrest. Vista posted
bail.
Real estate broker arrested for
estafa
BAGUIO
CITY – A real estate broker was arrested here Tuesday for estafa. He was
identified as Teody Pilar Brillantes, 54 of Lower Loakan-Liwanag. Brillantes
was arrested at his residence after Efren M. Cacatian, presiding judge of RTC,
Branch 35, Santiago City issued warrant for his arrest with no recommended
bail bond. Brilliantes is now incarcerated at the city jail.
Woman nabbed for robbery with violence
LA
TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested a woman here along Halsema Highway Tuesday
for robbery with violence. The suspect was identified as Elizabeth OpadBao-et.
Emmanuel Cacho Rasing, presiding judge of RTC Branch 3, First Judicial Region
Baguio City issued warrant for her arrest and recommended bail of P100, 000.
Bao-et was locked at the city jail.
Female fugitive nabbed for homicide

Pangasinan -- After two years on the run, a female suspect of a homicide
case was arrested by cops from Cordillera and Lingayen here in Barangay
Poblacion Jan. 9. The suspect was identified as Lily B. Undaya, 31 who
used two aliases as Rahmah Bangcola and Rakma Bangcolah, of Avenida Rizal
Street, Poblacion West, Lingayen. Undaya was recommended bail bond of P200,000
issued by Judge Emmanuel Cacho Rasing, Presiding Judge, First Judicial Region,
RTC, Branch3, Baguio City for her temporary liberty.

Benguet -- Two wanted persons were nabbed Jan. 9 by cops in their
residences.

Village, Kayapa, Nueva Vizcaya while Freddie Bawas Alico, 31, miner who was
charged for acts of lasciviousness was arrested in his residence here at

Bambang, Nueva Vizcaya recommended bail bond of P40,000 whileAdolfo R.
Malingan, presiding judge of the MCTC of Kabayan-Bokod recommended bail bond of

Man detained for estafa

CITY – A certain Kingray S. Desuma aka “KingraySabalboroAlvira”, 24,
resident of Poliwes, San Vicente here
and native of Tanauan, Batangas was arrested and is now detained at the
Benguet Provincial Jail in La Trinidad, Benguet for theft, violation of RA
9165 and robbery with intimidation. Recently, another crime
of robbery with force upon things was again served against him Jan. 9
with recommended bail bond of P100,000 issued by Judge Ma. LigayaItliong-Rivera
of RTC Branch 5, Baguio City.
‘Carnappers’ nabbed in Lagawe,
Solano

Ifugao -- Two alleged carnappers were arrested Jan. 9 in their respective
residences identified as Renier M. Garcia, of Roxas, Solano, Nueva Vizcaya
and Lectit M. Napoleon, of Poblacion East, Lagawe. Judge Romeo U Habilling
of 2nd judicial Region RTC 14, LagaweIfugao recommended bail of P180,000
each to both suspects.
Farmer shoots young man who survives
TINGLAYAN,
Kalinga – Police reported a case of frustrated murder committedabout 11:30 a.m.
of Jan. 10 here in SitioMaswa. A police report said one Jimmy Manggad, barangay
chief of Barangay Basao accompanied a certain Denis Dalog, 24, of Basao,
Tinglayan for medical treatment at the town’s Rural Health Unit due to gunshot
wound.
Investigation disclosed
that victim Dalog was descending a footpath heading towards Basao and carrying
a pack of rice coming from Maswa when a certain person later identified as
JunjunSaggot, 26, farmer shot him from behind with a handgun with the bullet
penetrating his waist and exited in his abdomen. Victim was further refered to
Tabuk provincial hospital for medical treatment while suspect evaded arrest and
heading towards Bontoc, Mt Province. Cops are still hunting the
suspect.
Drinking session turns violent; farmer
stabbed

Benguet – A drinking session turned violent here which resulted to
hospitalization of the victim. As police report said at about 2:30 a.m. of Jan.
10, a case of alleged frustrated murder transpired in here in Payeo, Bedbed
wherein the victim was identifgied as Jowin Sabiano Dacap, 25, laborer, of
Lamagan, Payeo, Bedbed while the suspect was Berting
Yap-EoLiwan, 49, farmer, of Mabileg Payeo, Bedbed.
Investigation showed the victim and suspect
with their companions were having a drinking session while celebrating the
birthday party of their neighbor when the father of the victim engaged in a
heated argument with the suspect.
Their companions pacified them after which,
the victim and his father went home and the victim went to sleep in his
room. While the victim was sleeping, the suspect entered and hit the head of
the victim with a hard object and stabbed him on his back then fled away. The
victim shouted for help and was rescued by his father and barangay kagawad, Saturnino
Sumayao who brought him to the Lutheran Hospital where he is now confined in
stable condition. The suspect was arrested by cops and jailed. A case for frustrated
homicide was prepared against the suspect.
Young man lands in jail for stealing
Korean girl’s i-pod
BAGUIO
CITY – A young man is now in jail for stealing the expensive LG i-pod of a
Korean girl here along Session Road around 2:20 p.m. of Jan. 10. Police
identified the victim as identified as JinyeongBae, 14, while the suspect was named as
Jay-arUdiongMittay, 24, of Kabugao, Apayao, and a resident here of Purok 3,
Green Valley.
Investigation
disclosed the victim was walking when the suspect followed her and stole her
i-pod valued to P20,000 which she kept inside her sling bag. PO1 Armando
Laureano saw the suspect, arrested him and recovered the stolen i-pod of the
victim from his possession.
Suspect in attempted murder issued
warrant in jail

Abra – A man wanted for attempted murder was served his arrest warrant at the
Abra Provincial Jail here Jan. 10 where he was detained for another case. The
suspect was identified as Randy MercurioCalibuso, 28, unemployed, of Barangay
Cabuloan.
The arrest was made by virtue of
a warrant issued by Corpus B. Alzate, Presiding Judge, RTC Branch 2,
Bangued who recommended bail of P120,000 for his temporary liberty.

Abra – An arrest warrant was served by police against a certain Alex
Medrano Millare, 38 here for murder.
Millare is now detained at the Abra Provincial
Jailafter his arrest Jan. 10. Corpus B. Alzate, presiding judge, RTC Branch 2,
Bangued, denied bail to the suspect who has another pending case.
Farmer commits suicide after quarrel
with wife

Abra – Police reported a certain Mark Anthony Dumlao Dasalla, 30, farmer, of
Barangay San Juan East here committed suicide.
A police report said at about 9:45 a.m. of
Jan. 10, a concerned citizen called Pilar cops and reported the incident.
Investigation disclosed the victim was drunk the whole day of Jan. 9 and
allegedly had a quarrel with his wife who is working abroad. The next day at
about 9 a.m., the cousin of the victim identified as Anjun Dasalla Baltar saw
Dasalla’s body inside his house hanging and already lifeless.
Baguio Country Club party turns
violent
BAGUIO
CITY – Police reported a case of physical injuries and malicious which
transpired about 8:30 p.m. of Jan. 7 inside a Baguio Country Club BCC
cottage here on complaint of Francis dela Rosa Tugnao, 42, BCC chef saying he
was victimized by his co-worker identified as Marlon Joaquin.
Investigation disclosed kitchen personnel of
Baguio Country Club had a party inside cottage 121, when victim and the suspect
had an altercation. For that reason, the suspect took a bottle and struck it on
the forehead of the victim. The latter tried to retaliate but they were
pacified. Afterwards, the suspect went outside and turned his anger by damaging
the parked vehicle of the victim described as silver Ford Ranger with plate
number AAK 9613 with the use of a stone. The suspect fled after the incident.
Arrested minor bares identity of shabu

Benguet – Cops and Barangay Tabio officials headed by Village chief Eugne Lasquete
arrested a 17 year-old male, resident of Panad West, Poblacion Jan. 4 wherein
two transparent plastic sachets containing shabu were confiscated from him.
The suspect whose name was withheld said he
was instructed by a certain Aldrin R. Bamba in delivering illegal drugs to
their customers the previous month. The minor was referred to the local Welfare
office.
Vegetable dealer lands behind
bars for attempted homicide

TRINIDAD, Benguet – Police arrested a certain Teofredo Villanueva Calonia, 49,
vegetable trader, and a resident of Rockyside, Barangay Lubas here Jan. 7 for
attempted homicide. Calonia was arrested in La Trinidad Vegetable Trading Post
after Judge Delilah H. Gonzalez-Munoz, presiding judge of MTC La Trinidad
issued warrant against him. Munoz set bail of P50,000 for the suspect’s
temporary liberty.
Farmer nabbed for theft
PARACELIS,
Mountain Province – Police arrested a farmer here Jan. 7 for theft. The
suspect, identified as PlacidoFattonMawat, 49, here of Barangay Butigue, was
nabbed at his residence following arrest warrant issued against him by Joseph
A. Patnaan, presiding judge of 1st Judicial Region, Branch 35, Bontoc, Mt.
Province. Cops brought Mawat to Bontoc where he was jailed.
Falling tree kills man, inured another
BUGUIAS,
Benguet – A man who cut a tree along with a companion died while his partner
was injured when the tree they rendered lifeless fell on them.
Police reported the incident happened about
about 8:30 a.m. of Jan. 6 here in SitioBabanga, Loo. The victim was identified
as Ariel Martin Balsina, 40, farmer while his companion was named as
RollyTarem Ligumio, 25, farm laborer and native of Tonglayan, Natonin, Mt.
Province.
Investigation disclosed that the victims
together with four other companions went to Babanga. They cut a pine tree to be
used during the death anniversary of their grandparent. When the tree was
falling, it leaned and dangled on another tree. They tied a rope the cut tree and pulled it down however, they
miscalculated the direction and it eventually fell hitting them. They were
rushed to the hospital but Balsina was
declared dead on arrival while Ligumio was confined.
Son plays with fire; Tublay house

Benguet -- Fire razed the house of Enyong Mongit Tayan here in Sitio Suyoc,
Daclan Jan. 6. Firemen said Enyong’s son was playing with fire which resulted
top the conflagration. Damage was estimated at P200,000.00. No person was
harmed.
Jealous man mauls, tries to stab
live-in partner
FLORA,
Apayao – A jobless man is now in trouble with authorities after he nearly
killed his live-in partner due to jealousy. A police report said the incident
happened about 2 a.m. of Jan. 6 in Barangay Poblacion East. The victim was
identified only as a 25-year old who was physically abused by her partner named
Matt Dhonell S. Cabulisan Alias “Don-don”, 27.
Investigation disclosed the victim was asleep
when the suspect, after having their drinking session with his three companions
in front of their house, went inside their room where the victim was sleeping
and suddenly slapped and pulled her hair accusing her that she had an illicit
affair with other man. According to the victim, the suspect also attempted to
stab her with a screw driver. Victim revealed the suspect physically abused her
every time he got drunk.
