LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Winners were selected by National Basketball Association with Alaska Corp. officials who screened  667 Jr. and lady ballers for the Regional Selection Camps of the NBA’s Global Youth Basketball Participation Program here at Benguet State University Gymnasium Feb. 20-21.
Kids aged 12 to 15 years old  from all over the northern region have undergone the enduring upper body test, agility test, vertical leap , scrimmages and  in-house NBA game scenario to be the best Luzon qualifiers for the National Training Camp set on April 22 to 24 in Manila.
From 667 participants on the first day, only 45 Jr. NBA and 15 Jr. WNBA advanced to the qualifying in-house game on the second day
As Jr.NBA Asia head coach Craig Brown described, this year is all about the S.T.A.R.  values in the NBA; sportsmanship, teamwork, positive attitude, and respect. He also reiterated that basketball is basketball, no matter what gender or race the players have, they have to work as a team to achieve a common goal. Coach Brown together with five other coaches including Alaska Aces assistant coach Jeffrey Cariaso were all hands-on to the qualifiers. At the end of the in-house game, only eight cagers will represent Northern Luzon in the upcoming National Training camp and will go head to head with representatives of Visayas, Mindanao and Metro Manila.

Winners include Jan Zyrus de Ayre, 14, of Berkeley School; Ric Ozner Joshua Gatuz, 13, of Cherished Moments School ; Vincent Mabiwo,13, of University of Cordilleras ; Emmanuel James Macaranasn, 13, of Bayambang National High School ; Sergz Quitaleg,14, of St. Louis University – Laboratory High School; and Wrench Mason Roquid, 13 , of University of Perpetual Help System- Laguna for the Jr. NBA  division while Katreena Areola, 13, of Berkeley School; and Rae Jemima Caba, 13, of St. Louis University – Laboratory Elementary School for the Jr. WNBA division.
Winners in the National Training Camp will get to travel overseas and watch the NBA Global Games live.
