3 ‘budol-budol’ specialists swindle businesswoman
BAGUIO CITY – Police are looking for three persons who reportedly specialize in “budol-budol” (swindling) identified by a businesswoman they victimized even as charges were being prepared against them. 
A police report said on June 2, at about 5 p.m. inside McDonald’s Fastfood located along corner Yandoc St. and Abanao Extension here,  Loida Salimbay Guinsad, 40, was victimized by three suspects identified through mug files as Leslie Shane Paragas Santos of Gayaman, Binmaley, Pangasinan; Leticia Baoanan Maniacop, of Pozorrubio, Pangasinan; and  an unidentified suspect.   The incident was only reported at police around 4 p.m. of June 14.
Investigation disclosed that the victim was at the stairway of Eurotel along Kisad road when the unidentified suspect approached her and inquired where the location of the Medical Center was.
The suspect told her that a pregnant woman she met has jewelries and was ready to sell so she could something to use in the hospital. While they were conversing, the two suspects arrived and all went to McDonalds to have a coffee where they sweet-talked the victim.
The victim withdrew P100,000 from BDO and Summit banks and gave to this to suspects in exchange for purported three pieces of gold necklace with pendant, and four pieces of gold rings.
After the transaction, the suspects left while the victim went to Cebuana Luillier and requested the jewelries to be appraised. She was told the jewelries were fake.

Man held up while riding motorcycle
BUCAY, Abra – A man riding a motorcycle here was stripped of his personal belongings by two men riding in tandem aboard a motorcycle who pointed a gun at him here Tuesday around 8:20 p.m. along Bucay–Peñarubia road in Barangay Bugbog.
A police report said cops went to the area and found a abandoned white Yamaha Mio soul motorcycle bearing plate number 4141 AF.
According to John Russel Perlas Paet, 22, single, ADTEMPCO employee, driver of the abandoned motorcycle and a resident of North Poblacion, Bucay, he was traversing the sharp curved portion of the road at kilometer post 416, when two male persons on board a single motorcycle (jumper) without plate number overtook him. The back rider then draw a short firearm believed to be a revolver and pointe it to the victim’s head and declared hold-up and took away the following items:clutch bag containing two Land Bank, two PNB and one GSIS ATM cards owned by the victim and his mother, and cash amounting to 1,500 Philippine currency and Jansport backpack containing personal belongings and the OR/CR of the Yamaha Mio Soul motorcycle owned by Rose VivienePaet.
 The suspects fled towards the north after the incident.

 Two men nabbed in Tabuk for rape
TABUK CITY – Two men were arrested here Tuesday for rape. 
Police arrested around 8:20 a.m. here in Purok 6, Bulanao a certain Eclipton Donnga Gannaban, 28, of Balawag, Tabuk for rape. Presiding judge Marcelino K Wacas, RTC Branch 25, Bulanao, issued warrant for his arrest with no bail recommended.
In another incident Tuesday, cops nabbed Efren Ofod Bommosao, 25,  of Sumadel, Tinglayan town after Judge Wacas also issued arrest warrant against him for rape recommending P200,000 for his temporary liberty.

2 teens drown in Pangasinan
DAGUPAN CITY– Two teenage girls drowned on a beach in Barangay Bonuan Binloc in this city on Sunday afternoon.
 Christopher Abrahano, city police chief, identified the fatalities as Karen Madraso, 14, and Myla Carvajal, 15.
The victims were on a family outing when the accident occurred. They were declared dead on arrival at the Region 1 Medical Center. – Eva Visperas   

Over P5-M marijuana destroyed in Kalinga
TINGLAYAN Kalinga --Over P5 million worth of marijuana plants were destroyed by police and agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency in three plantations here on June 11.
Town police chief Inspector Nelson Sad-ang said officers from Sadanga, Mountain Province police helped them uproot over 23,000 marijuana plants from a 3.2-hectare property in Barangay Loccong.
This developed as members of the Lubuagan municipal police raided another plantation in Barangay Ga-ang where they destroyed at least 100 marijuana plants.
No one was arrested in both police operations.

2 men from Laguna nabbed with 25 kilos marijuana in LU
SAN GABRIEL, La Union – At least 25 kilos of dried marijauna with an estimated street value of over P600,000 were seized from BeejhayAcuin, 22, and Paciano James Evangelista 22, both of Laguna.
The suspects were waiting for a bus for Manila in Barangay Polipol here when they were arrested, according to town police chief Senior Insp. Dominator Apostol II.

Ex-village chief gunned down
CITY OF SAN FERNANDO, Pampanga --  Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a former village chief here last week.
 Andan, former chairman of Barangay Acle, Mexico town, was walking with his two-year-old son in Barangay Calulut when he was shot.
Andan died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body. The assailants did not harm the boy.
Probers recovered eight bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.
Police are eyeing politics as the motive for the killing. -- RicSapnu
  
Farmer dies gathering kangkong in fishpond
BANGUED, Abra – A man gathering water spinach (kangkong) in a fush pond in Barangay Calaba North here was found drowned June 9 at about 9:30 a.m. The victim was identified as Alejandro Alcantara Almazan, 59,driver and resident of said place.
Police said the victim left his house about 6 a.m. to gather kangkong in the pond. At about 8 a.m. that day, Evelina Bersalona Alcantara, 51, farmer, second cousin of the victim, discovered the lifeless body of the victim floating at the pond and sought help from her relatives who retrieved the victim’s body.  
 Cops found no injuries on the victim’s body. The relatives of the victim refused for the conduct of an autopsy since they believed the incident was an accident.
  
Ex-Mexico village chief gunned down
MEXICO, Pampanga – Motorcycle-riding men shot dead a former village chief in San Fernando City  last week.
Rodrigo Andan, former chairman of Barangay Acle, Mexico, was walking with his two-year-old son in Barangay Calulut when he was shot.
Andan died at the scene from several gunshot wounds in the body. The assailants did not harm the boy.
Probers recovered eight bullet shells for a .45 caliber pistol from the crime scene.

Man steals Delicavan in La Trinidad
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – An unidentified man ran away with a Delica van (XEK 339) here Monday at about 2:30 a.m., police said, identifying the owner as Clifford Batcagan Buli-e, 28, farmer, of SLU-SVP Housing, Baguio City. The vehicle was carnapped while parked in front of the Amos Building here along km 6, La Trinidad. 
The CCTV footage mounted in the Amos Building revealed that the Delica van arrived at the parking area at 9:41 p.m. of June 12 and at about 11:14 p.m. an unidentified person drove the van towards Baguio City.

Man nabbed for illegal gun in Conner
CONNER, Apayao – Police nabbed a certain Robert Dangao Bunga, 35, here of Barangay Bulu in possession of a homemade Cal. 38 revolver.
Investigation disclosed that prior to the incident, police received a text message from a concerned citizen saying a man under the influence of liquor was at the store beside the national road armed with a gun tucked on his waist. Responding immediately arrested Bunga.

Farmer arrested for rape 
MANKAYAN, Benguet – A farmer was nabbed here Monday around 8 a.m. after arrest warrant was issued agianst him a by a local judge for rape. Police named the suspect as Diego DulatrePanganiban, 29. Judge Sergio Angnganay Jr., of regional trial court, Buguias, Benguet ordered his arrest with no bail recommended.

Estafa lands man in jail
BUCAY, Abra – Police arrested a certain Elemer Cuales Sambrano, 37, here of Barangay Patoc, Monday around 10 a.m.  after Judge Richard T. Domingo of 11th MCTC, Sta. Cruz, Ilocos Sur issued warrant against him for estafa with recommended bail of P2,000. 

Judge sets P16,000 bail for man wanted for estafa
PUDTOL, Apayao – Cops arrested Ruben Sibrao here at Barangay Swan after Judge Francisco S. Donato of RTC Br. 26, 2nd Judicial Region, Luna, issued warrant against him for estafa. The judge set bail at P16,000 for Sibrao’s temporary liberty.

 Thieves fail to open Baguio school ATM  
BAGUIO CITY – Thieves tried to break into a Landbank ATM machine early morning of June 12 at Baguio City National High School but failed. The incident was reported to police around 10:30 a.m. that day  Joselito Garcia Fernandez 21, ATM bookkeeper.
 Investigation disclosed around 6:43 a.m. that day, Fernandez received a text message from the Land Bank head office (ATM and Cash Management Department) saying the ATM at BCNHS was offline wherein he was directed to check the the machine. Fernandez noticed that the back door knob of the ATM booth was destroyed and partly open while the key-in combination was destroyed. Police found a blade of metal saw in the site.

3 men nabbed in checkpoint for transporting mineral ore 
BANGUED, Abra – Three persons were arrested here June 12 at Sitio Nangaykayan, Zone 7 for violation of Republic Act 7076 (Small Scale Mining Act).  Police named the suspects as Elmer Babas Rebudal, 20, driver of Reyna Mercedes, Isabela; Joey Perez Garcia, 46, helper of  Concepcion, Tarlac and Rogene Asonza Liquiran, 39, helper of Diam Street, Valenzuela City.
Police said a concerned citizen reported to them that an Isuzu 14- wheeler truck with plate number RET 618 was loaded with suspected minerals ore coming from Licuan-Baay going to Bangued. Police and Environment personnel set a checkpoint at the place that resulted to arrest of suspects and confiscation of 500 sacks of mineral ore.

Farmer stabbed by barangay tanod 
BUCAY, Abra – A certain Juanito Almienda Gacote, 56, farmer, was reportedly stabbed June 9 around 7:25 p.m. by Bonifacio Batoon Claor, 55, also a farmer and barangay tanod here in Barangay Layugan. 
A police report said a concerned citizen called them about the incident. 
Investigation that night around 7 p.m., Gacote was shouting in front of the house of barangay kagawad Maritess Gacote.
The suspect went outside with a dust pan and tried to pacify him but he was struck by the victim on his head with a broken wood that prompted the suspect to stab the victim on his abdomen with a knife. As a result, the victim sustained a stab wound on his abdomen. Both were brought to Abra Provincial Hospital for medical treatment. Both parties were under the influence of liquor.
The suspect was later released after treatment and was brought to Bucay police where charges were prepared against him. The weapon used was not recovered.

Driver nabbed for adultery 
TUBA, Benguet – Police arrested here June 9 a certain Ricardo Peralta Quitola, 45, driver, native of Tayug, Pangasinan, and  resident of Lower QM, Baguio City for adultery.
Marietta S. Brawner-Cualing, Presiding Judge, MCTC Tuba-Sablan issued warrant for his arrest and set bail of P12,000 for his temporary liberty.

 4 drown in Tubao La Union
TUBAO, La Union -- Three persons drowned here on June 5. CristopherColcol, 36, and Kijel Carpio, 19, were swimming in Tubao River when they were swept away by the strong current, said Chief Insp. ArtemioInfante, La Union police information officer.
Florentina Frigillana, 22, fell off a bamboo raft while swimming with her cousin in Aringay River. She was declared dead on arrival in a hospital.

Young man taken in for murder
TABUK CITY – A man identified as Domdom It-tang Sayaan, 28, of Barangay Bulanao here was nabbed Jan. 10 for murder. Marcelino K. Wacas, presiding judge of RTC Branch 25, who issued his arrest warrant recommended no bail.  Police confiscated from the suspect shabu placed inside a brown coin purse.
  
5 hurt as 2 Tamaraw FX vehicles collide along Tabuk, Bontoc road
LUBUAGAN, Kalinga – Five persons were seriously hurt when the vehicles they were riding in collided here along the Tabuk-Bontoc road at StoIyucan, Manangol June 5 around 8:45 a.m.
Police said Tamaraw FX was driven by James PodesKitan, 42, driver by profession of Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet while the other Tamaraw FX was driven by Samuel Bayangan Rosito, 55,  miner,  resident of Mankayan, Benguet
Police investigation disclosed the Tamaraw FX driven by Kitan was negotiating a sharp curve when it accidentally collided with the Tamaraw FX driven by Rosito coming from the opposite direction. As a result, the passengers of Rosito, identified as Melinda Lugao Rosito, Malik Lugao, Shanine Puyao, all natives of Pasil, Kalinga and residents of Mankayan, Benguet sustained injuries.
Meanwhile, passengers of Kitan identified as Rita Foy-osKitan, 38 and Abigail Foy-osKitan, 19 both residents at Lubas, La Trinidad, Benguet were also hurt. All passengers were brought to Lubuagan District Hospital by responding cops for medical treatment.
Both drivers were not injured while their driver’s licenses were confiscated. Both vehciles were impounded.

Man wanted for frustrated murder in Apayao nabbed
ABULUG, Cagayan – A certain Bernabe A. Nicolas, wanted for frustrated murder, was arrested here in Barangay Guiddam last week by Flora, apayao cops and Police Provincial Office of the province following arrest warrant issued by Judge Quirino M. Andaya of RTC Branch 26, Luna, Apayao with a fixed bail bond of P200, 000.

Man arrested for illegal guns
BANGUED, Abra – A certain Rogelio “Tugol” Almazan, 32 was arrested here in Calaba South last week for illegal posssesion of firearms after warrant was issued against him by Judge Corpus Alzate of RTC Branch 2, Bangued who recommended bail of P100,000 for his temporary liberty.

Man lands in Abra jail for acts of lasciviousness
PENARRUBIA, Abra – A man identified as Alexander BillezaEduarte, 37 was arrested here in Barangay Riang last week by cops for acts of lasciviousness in relation to Republic Act 7610 or an “act providing for stronger deterrence and special protection against child abuse, exploitation and discrimination.” Bail was set at P180, 000 for Eduarte’s temporary liberty.

Man stabbed in Tabuk City; cellphone taken
TABUK, Kalinga – Police got a call June 7 around 8 p.m. from St. Peter Claver Hospital informing them a man was stabbed at Barangay Casigayan  and was brought to said hospital.
Investigation disclosed that the victim, Kenny Ray Dawing Gumpad, 25, of Balacang Street, of the barangay went to buy items at a store when an unidentified man suddenly grabbed his cell phone prompting him to fight back but was stabbed by the suspect.
The suspect with two other companions fled aboard a Honda TMX motorcycle. Police could not identify the suspects yet at press time.

2 suspects nabbed in Ifugao for store theft
ALFONSO LISTA, Ifugao – Two men were arrested for allegedly breaking into a a sari-sari store here last week in Sitio Banahao, San Marcos on complaint of owner Jayson Simon Javillonar, 39.
Police said the complainant locked his store Monday evening and noticed the when he opened the next day that the window was destroyed with groceries worth P7,000 and cash of P3,000 taken by the suspects.
            Police later arrested suspects named as Rey Lamarca Galleto, 40 and Gil Ancheta Villarba, 53, both Banahao residents.

 Thieves snatch P60,000 from drunk men sleeping in vehicle  
BAGUIO CITY – Never sleep while drunk inside your vehicle. Three men were robbed of their belongings here Tuesday night while sleeping in a Toyota Grandia in front of TG Home Builders, RFT Building, along Naguilian Road.  Investigation disclosed Eric Besic Orcino, 33, of Puguis, La Trinidad, Benguet with two companions had a drinking session, and slept inside the vehicle leaving the window open. Around 3:30 a.m. of June 7, complainant noticed that his pocket was slashed and his money amounting to P60,000 together with his two cell phones were missing believed taken by unidentified suspects.

Two men maul driver; drive tricycle to Kalinga 
BONTOC, Mountain Province – Two unidentified suspects stole the tricycle of a businesswoman identified as Shelou Domingo Mangatam, 25, here Tuesday around 11 p.m. Investigation disclosed that earlier around 7:30 p.m., the husband of complainant identified as Loreto Taynan asked him if they could hire the tricycle. Atynan drover the tricycle and while at Sitio Latang, suspects suddenly mauled him and placed him at the passenger seat.
They dropped the complainant at SitioGawa, Barangay Tococan, Bontoc, and suspects proceeded towards Kalinga on board the tricycle. Responding cops conducted pursuit operation to no avail.


Man wanted for rape in Banaue nabbed in  Baguio 
BAGUIO CITY -- A man wanted for rape in Banaue, Ifugao was arrested here June 7 around 9 p.m. at Kadaclan Village, Barangay Loakan, by Baguio and Banaue police. Arrested was Levihope                         Tucdaan Numbanal, 40, married after Judge Ester L. Piscoso-Flor of Regional Trial Court, Branch 34 issued warrant for his arrest. No bail was recommended. Banaue cops brought the suspect to the tourist town where he was jailed.

Man lands in jail for frustrated murder
MAYOYAO, Ifugao –  Police arrested here June 7 a certain Pepe Atluna Linnong, 51, married for frustrated murder after warrant was issued against him by Judge Ester Piscoso-Flor, RTC Br 34, Banaue, Ifugao who set bail of P200,000 for his temporary liberty.
Linnong was jailed at the municipal jail.

MANKAYAN, Benguet --  A certain Jess NalicaoWansi, 26, single, was arrested here Tuesday for frustrated murder following arrest warrant issued against him by  Judge Sergio Angnganay Jr. RTC Br 64, Abatan, Buguias.
The judge set bail of P100,000 for Wansi’s temporary liberty.
The suspect was arrested around 3 p.m. in Barangay Balili and incarcerated at the municipal jail.

Acts of lasciviousness lands man in jail
BAUKO, Mountain Province – Police nabbed a certain Johnjan Cuteng Joven, 42,resident of Barangay Abatan here for acts of lasciviousness after Judge Jocelyn Pespe-Humiwat, of Municipal Circuit Trial Court issued warrant for his arrest recommending bail of  P40,000 for his temporary liberty.
         
Man drowns in Abra River  
LANGIDEN, Abra – A certain Antonio Murphy, 51, told police here June around 9:30 a.m. he saw a cadaver at river bank of Abra River in Barangay Poblacion, Langiden. Police found the lifeless body of Ward Allan RabayaBalla, 18, single, resident of Poblacion West, Pidigan town.
The victim reportedly drowned June 5, around 1:15 p.m. along the river particularly at SitioPidpidig, Poblacion West, Pidigan, Abra. Joint personnel of Pidigan police, firemen and residents retrieved the body and brought it to a local funeral home.

Europa caretaker mauled, robbed by co-drinkers 
BAGUIO CITY – The caretaker of Europa Condominium here at Barangay Mines View was mauled by two men who took his wallet containing cash of P3,000 and his Sony cellphone worth P3,000. 
 Police said the incident recently happened around 11:30 p.m. along Modesta St. in the barangay where the complainant was identified as Eddie Macasakit y Mauricio, 52, married.
His assailants were named as Oliver Ciriaco and Clydon Tomas, both residents of Mines View. Investigation disclosed around 10:30 p.m. that day, the victim and his friend Kenneth Swida Alvin went to buy liquor at Pantew Bar in the area. While at said place, they were seen by the suspects who were drinking and were invited to drink. After consuming one bottle of Red Horse beer, victims paid their bill and both decided to go home. However, they were followed by the suspects who aided one another in mauling the victim and taking his personal belongings.

Responding cops brought the victim to Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment while a case for physical injuries was prepared against the suspect
