torch 3 dump trucks
CONNER, Apayao – Suspected communist
guerrillas burned three dump trucks of a construction firm in Conner town in
Apayao on Wednesday night.
Cordillera police said
around 40 New People’s Army rebels stormed the compound of the Omengan
Construction and Development Corp. in Barangay Guinaang at around 8:30 p.m. and
set the trucks on fire.
The rebels also
reportedly took another dump truck and a pick up truck from the compound.
A manhunt has been
launched for the rebels.
Man
found dead in ‘friend’s’ house
BAGUIO
CITY – A male person was found dead in a house here at No. 18 Purok 2, Padre
Zamora Tuesday around 11:20 a.m. Kagawad Freda Pinasin called police saying a
certain Johnny Culod Dakiwas, 44, resident of the place, identified the male dead person as Charlie Picuten, 63 of Lubon,
Tadian, Mountain Province.
Dakiwas reported when
he arrived home Monday around 10 p.m., he saw Picuten sleeping near the door of
his house and when he tried to awaken him, but didn’t wake up.
On Tuesday around 2
a.m., Picuten reportedly knocked on the door of Dakiwas’s room. Picuten
reportedly entered then slept on a foam mattress in the sala. At about 5:30
a.m. Tuesday, Dakiwas tried to awaken Pukuten to have coffee but he noticed
that he was not breathing prompting him to call for help from Pikuten’s friends
while he reported the incident to the barangay officials. Dakiwas said he met
Picuten at the city market and invited
him at his house because he had no residence in the city. Since then, Picuten
slept in his residence.

marijuana plants destroyed in Kalinga
TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- – At least 540,000 marijuana plants with an
estimated value of P100 million were destroyed July 31.
The marijuana plants
were uprooted from a 46,600-square-meter plantation on Mt. Chumanchil in
Barangay Loccong, Tinglayan town in Kalinga, said Senior Insp. Nestor
Lopez, Tinglayan police chief.
Motorcycle
stolen
AGUINALDO, Ifugao – The motorcycle of a
certain Ginner OhomnaBaguiw, 26, of Barangay Galonogon here was allegedly
stolen at Liwo, Mayoyao town July 30.
A police report said
Baguiw allegedly parked his XRM Rusi Motorcycle, around 7 p.m. along the farm
to market road going to Liwo Elementary School and went to the river for a
picnic together with his three companions. At about 2 a.m. of July 31, the
victim returned to the place where he parked his motorcycle and discovered that
his motorcycle was missing.
5 men nabbed
for illegal gambling
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Five men were arrested
here Monday by police for illegal gambling. A police report said the suspects
were playing “sakla/munti” around 5 p.m. at the second floor of Peping Building
here at Barangay Pico.
They were identified
as: Edralyn Odasing Cayadi, 41; Mauro Calixto Felipe Jr., 29; Jon Duyao Subli, 35; Wilter Calixto Felipe,
45 and
Alberto Atinyao, 27. Confiscated from them were gambling paraphernalia
and cash of P2,796.
Frustrated
homicide suspect nabbed
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – Cops nabbed a man here
Monday for frustrated homicide. Suspect Saulo Owel Bugtong, 33, single, farmer,
of Sabl;an town was arrested after Emmanuel Cacho Rasing, presiding judge of
RTC Branch 3, Baguio City issued warrant against him setting bail of P120,000
for his temporary liberty.
Farmer
surrenders two shotguns
KABUGAO, Apayao -- A certain Hilary
BehingAccay, 51, farmer here accompanied by barangay chairman SarioDaguyam
voluntarily surrendered here Tuesday two shotguns without bullets.
The firearms are now
under the custody of Kabugao police.
Illegal
drug suspect tracked down
LUNA, Apayao – Cops of this town tracked a
suspect wanted for illegal drugs and arrested Janet GulayanUsod, 46, of Mindoro Oriented in Balzain West, Tuguegarao City, Cagayan. She
was arrested along Diversion Road, Tuguegarao. Harry Jaminola, presiding dudge
of RTC Branch 41, 4th Judicial Region, Pinamalayan, Oriental Mindoro
issued warrant for her arrest with no bail recommended.
Man
object of manhunt for indiscriminate firing
PARACELIS, Mountain Province – A resident
here named as Brando Tawaran is now the object of a police manhunt for
indiscriminate firing and grave threats.
Police said they
responded to a report of a man firing his gun along the road here at Dagawe,
Poblacion who evaded arrest riding a
motorcycle.
A witness said she was
inside their house when she heard burst of gunfire about six times and when she
went outside to verify who did the firing, she saw the said suspect holding a
handgun. Tawaran, while being chased by responding cops tried to fire upon a
group of high school students of Paracelis National High School walking home
along the road at Sitio Central Poblacion but the suspect’s firearm
malfunctioned. Students scampered to different directions for fear of being
hit.
Police said the
suspect upon reaching Marat of same barangay, indiscriminately fired his
firearm and headed to unknown direction.
Son
shoots father dead in drinking spree
LUBA, Abra -- A certain Merlinda Bersalona
called cops here around 9 p.m. of July 31 reporting a certain Jerry
PisquilCruzada, 35, admitted to her that he shot and killed his father at their
residence.
Police found the
lifeless body of Nestor Samuel Cruzada, 58,
farmer, with a gunshot wound on his head.
The suspect and
his father together with two unidentified companions were having a drinking
spree at their residence. The father and son had a heated argument. The victim
reportedly drew a firearm believed to be Cal.38 but the suspect grabbed the
firearm and shot the victim on his head that caused his instant death.
The suspect was
arrested in a follow-up operation conducted by Luba police. The gun used in the
crime was not found. Charges for homicide were prepared against him.
Drug
pusher hacks Pudtol surrenderee
PUDTOL, Apayao – A certain Ronel Barad Belan,
29, farmer, was reportedly hacked by JesselGubsi here July 31 around 1:30
p.m. in Barangay Upper Maton,
Investigation
disclosed that while the victim was butchering pig when the suspect
arrived holding a transparent plastic sachet of white crystalline substance
believe to be shabu and offering the victim to buy it.
The victim refused and
told the suspect that he was a reformed man who voluntarily surrendered himself
at Pudtol police station. The suspect grabbed a bolo and hacked the victim
on his left shoulder. The victim sought help from his cousin who rushed him
to Amma Jadsac District Hospital in the town. The victim was slashed
on his left shoulder and released after
treatment. Manhunt is on against the suspect.
Man
mauled, valuables taken
BAGUIO CITY – A man was mauled here July 31
around 1:30 a.m. here at Gastro Pub Bar, General Luna Road, SaludMitra
Barangay. Cops named the victim as Franklin Dela Cruz Bambico, 32, while his
mauler was identified as NormelVeneracion and his unidentified companion.
Investigation revealed
that the victim was drinking when he was called outside by the bar owner named
Rey. While going out, he was confronted by the suspect who was drinking and
challenged him to a fist fight. The victim approached the suspect and asked him
about his problem. However, the suspect’s companion grabbed the victim’s arm
while Veneracion immediately stood up
and punched the victim on his left temple that caused him to fall on the
ground. The victim claimed the suspect and his companion took away his wallet
containing IDs, cash of P1,500.00; the I-Phone 6 cellphone owned by his sister
and his Guess watch worth P7,000.
Bontoc
bar slot machines surrendered
BONTOC, Mountain Province – Police doing
rounds found two slot machines July 31 around 8:20 a.m. in AFEW Restaurant and
Resto Bar in Foyayeng, Bontoc Ili. A certain Luis Wakwak Lao-ed, 27, surrendered
the slot machines locally known as “kulalong.” The gambling machines were
brought to town police station. Local folks, particularly women, have been
complaining of bad effects of such machines on residents particularly minors.
Pudtol
student dead in trike, loader collision
PUDTOL, Apayao – A motorcycle and a loader
collided here July 31 around 10:30 a.m. which resulted to the death of the
former’s rider. A police report said the incident happened along Barangay
Malibang Road when Randy Agcaoili Tarupa, 17, Grade 7 student, accidentally
collided with a loader owned by Erickson Felipe of Tagel Construction Corp. The
loader was being operated by Roger Mating-en Bangnan, 30, resident of Masla,
Tadian, Mountain Province.
Investigation
disclosed Tarupa lost control of the steering bars making his vehicle collidee
with the loader on opposite lane going towards
Barangay Aurora.
As a result, the
driver of said motorcycle was injured and rushed by police to Far North
Luzon General Hospital & Training Center at Luna town but was pronounced
dead on arrival by the attending physician due to severe injuries. Bangnan
voluntarily surrendered to Pudtol police.
Young
man dies in trike accident
MANKAYAN, Benguet – A man died when he tried
to overtake an Elf Truck here while riding a motorcycle here July 30 around
2:50 p.m. Municipal councilor Julio Joey Culliao reported to police the
accident transpired in Palatong, Tabio.
Luis OdacionPelagao, 20, and his back rider Drixon Saki Maliňas, 17, Grade 9,
student reportedly fell in a canal beside the road.
Investigation
disclosed the driver and his back rider were injured and rushed to Lutheran
Hospital in Abatan, Buguias town But Pelagao was declared dead on arrival by
attending physician, Dr. Geraldine Katadar.
The cadaver of the victim was brought home by
his sister with councilor John Palking.
13-year-old
nabbed for selling marijuana
BANAUE, Ifugao – Cops
arrested a minor here July 27 around 7:30 a.m. for trying to sell marijuana to
undercover police agents. A police report said the 13-year-old student was a
resident hre of SitioItanungon, Barangay Bocos. The buy-bust operation was
conducted at Poblacion, inside Mica’s store.
The cops reportedly
bought two pieces of match boxes containing alleged marijuana dry leaves
handiong over P500 to the minor as payment. The suspect was brought to Banaue
police station for questioning.
In Baguio City, cops
also arrested a minor here at Melvin Jones Grounds July 27 around 4:20 p.m. for
illegal possession of shabu in two sachets. Also confiscated from the minor was
a lighter and purse.
Man
detained for estafa
LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A certain Von Ryan
Tauli, 44, was detained at the police station here for estafa after he was
arrested here July 27 around 4 p.m. This, after Mary Jane B.
Dacara-Buenaventura, presiding Judge of RTC Branch 43, City of San Fernando,
Pampanga issued warrant for his arrest and recommended bail of P40,000 for his
temporary liberty.
Brothers
nabbed for violation of RA 9165
SAGADA, Mountain Province – Two brothers were
nabbed here July 27 around 6 a.m. after arrest warrat was issued against them
by Sergio T. Angnganay Jr., presiding judge of First Judicial Region, RTC
Branch 36, Bontoc, Mountain Province for violation of Republic Act 9165.
Arrested were Bugnosen
Kimmayong Dugao, 41, of Barangay Dagdag, and his elder brother James also known
as Gak-ey, 46, resident of Barangay Ankileng.
Bugnosen was arrested
at his residence while James was arrested at Poblacion.
Frustrated
homicide case lands man in jail
LAMUT, Ifugao – Cops nabbed one Joven CorpuzPatac,
46, here of barangay Lawig for frustrated homicide after Judge Marcelino K.
Wacas of RTC Branch 25, Second Judicial Region, Bulanao, Tabuk City, Kalinga
issued warrant against him.
Man
arrested for concubinage
MANKAYAN, Benguet – A certain Elpidio Paleng
Dacanay, 54, was arrested here July 27 for concubinage following warrant issued
against him by Marietta S. Brawner Cualing, presiding judge of MCTC-
Tuba-Sablan, Benguet. Dacanay was brought to Tuba town where the case was filed
against him.
