Collado
appointed new Ilocos police director
CAMP FLORENDO, La
Union – Chief Superintendent Charlo Collado is the new director of the Ilocos
region police.
Collado took over the
post from Chief Superintendent Gregorio Pimentel at the change of command
ceremony on Friday.
Pimentel was named
officer-in-charge of the directorate for intelligence, replacing Chief
Superintendent Nestor Quinsay, who had retired. – Jun Elias
2 girls
drown in Manaoag
MANAOG, Pangasinan --
Two girls drowned while swimming in a river in Barangay Sapang here Feb. 25,
police said.
The two were
identified as Irish Mae Relosa, 15; and her younger sister, Angelo Joy, 12;
both residents of Sitio Sagun, Barangay Pugaro, Manaoag town in Pangasinan.
Other residents who
were also bathing in the river reported to the police around 4:31 p.m. that
Saturday when they noticed the siblings were missing.
A few minutes later,
the girls were found by elements of the Bureau of Fire Protection and Municipal
Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council six feet underwater and were not
moving.
The siblings were
identified by their aunt Dina Molina, 20.
The girls were rushed
to the Manaoag Community Hospital where they were declared dead on arrival. --

Druggies
fall in Baguio City PDEA buy-bust
BAGUIO CITY – An
alleged member of a local drug group and a drug surrendee were arrested in a
buy-bust operation by agents of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency
Cordillera early Wednesday along Camdas Subdivision, Baguio City.

Rapanut alias Vince, 40, of Camdas Subdivision, was arrested with Koren Olsim
Agusdan alias Batsoy, 39 of Buguias, Benguet and resident of La Trinidad,
Benguet when they sold a heat-sealed transparent sachet containing suspected
shabu to an anti-narcotics agent of regional PDEA.
Upon arrest, the
suspects yielded the buy-bust money and another sachet containing suspected
shabu. They are now detained at the
PDEA-CAR jail facility pending the filing of cases for illegal drugs.
Man
dies after jumping from truck in Isabela
JONES, Isabela -- A farm worker died after jumping from a
moving truck to avoid a bee attack in a forested area here Feb. 25.
The rear wheel of the
vehicle hit Rolan Cacayan, 33, a resident of Barangay Minuri.
Supt. Manuel Bringas,
Isabela police chief investigator, said Cacayan was with other farm workers
when their vehicle hit a beehive.
The truck driver

Tarlac
bocap shot dead
GERONA, Tarlac --
Bernard Visaya, chairman of Barangay Dicolor here, was in his service vehicle
on his way to the barangay hall when he was shot Monday.
Visaya was pronounced
dead on arrival at the Jecson Medical Center in Tarlac City.
Prior to the shooting,
the neighbors of the victim said unidentified motorcycle-riding men were seen

Panagbenga visitors injured in bus accident
TUBA, Benguet –
Some 41 Development Bank of the Philippines employees were injured in a bus
accident here in Barangay Poblacion before noon June 26.
The employees came
from the Mines View Park and were headed to the Panagbenga Festival in Baguio
City when the accident occurred around 11 a.m. in Sitio Badiwan.
The DBP Hino bus was
traveling downhill when its engine malfunctioned, said to Chief Insp. Jim
Hilario, town police chief.
Bus driver Johnson
Binabay, 48, lost control of the wheel and opted to slam the bus into a boulder
to stop it.
The impact caused the
bus to roll on its side.
The passengers were
rushed to the Baguio General Hospital and Medical Center for treatment.
Man
eating halo-halo shot dead
MABALACAT, Pampanga --
William Toribio, a resident of Barangay Mabiga here was eating halo-halo in front of a
store when motorcycle-riding men shot him several times.
The gunmen left a
piece of paper that read, “magnanakaw ako, drug adik, wag
tularan (I’m a robber and drug addict, don’t emulate).”
2 town
workers hurt in Isabela shooting
SAN PABLO, Isabela --
Two municipal workers shot here Tuesday night in Minanga village here, and are
in critical condition.
Pablo Guiquing and
Roberto Macapagal were injured by gunmen who opened fire at their house at 9:30
p.m.
Relatives brought the
victims to the Milagros District Hospital for treatment.
Woman killed, two hurt in Vizcaya collision
SOLANO, Nueva Vizcaya
-- A 54-year-old woman died, while two others were hurt, in a collision here
Wednesday involving four vehicles.
Police said Lolita
Valdez, 54, died on the way to a hospital after the tricycle ferrying her and
Gaybert Balangatan, 43, struck a Mitsubishi Adventure owned by Nueva Vizcaya
Provincial Agriculture Office, before colliding with two other cars on the road
in Bascaran village at dawn.
The accident injured
Balangatan and 52-year-old tricycle driver Rodrigo Brin, said SPO2 Joey Aquino
of the Solano police.
The government vehicle
was driven by Jonel Leano, who was not harmed.
Drug
suspect shot dead in Bulacan
SAN ILDEFONSO, Bulacan
-- A drug suspect was killed here Wednesday.
Armando Serrano, 27, a
resident of Barangay Garlan, was driving his motorcycle on his way home when
unidentified men shot him several times. The gunmen fled toward San Miguel.
Senior Supt. Romeo
Caramat, Bulacan police acting director, said the fatality was recently freed
on bail for motorbike theft and illegal drugs.
46 Ifugao
cops attend investigation course
LAGAWE, Ifugao --
Forty six investigators of police units in the province are
attending Criminal Investigation Course at the Ifugao Provincial Police Office
here.
The 45-day course
is under the supervision of the Provincial Investigation and
Detective Management Branch.
Mayor Mariano
Buyagawan, Jr. of Lamut who graced the opening of the training, urged police to
actively participate particularly in the preparation of sworn statements and
preservation of evidence until filing of cases in court saying in any case, it

Danglas
employs 7 drug surrenderees
DANGLAS, Abra -- Seven
drug surrenderees here are now employed by the local government.
Mayor Florence Denise
Bernos-Bragas said the seven were hired as administrative aides under direct
supervision of the Municipal Police Office.
Danglas was the first
municipal local government to adapt a community rehabilitation program for
surrenderees in support to anti-drug campaign of President Rodrigo R.
Duterte.
Bragas said the
surrenderees who had drug tests last year undergo random drug testing to ensure
they are no longer into illegal drugs and substances.
The surrenderees
expressed gratitude to Mayor Poyee as
they fondly call her, saying she had not
given up on them as they strive to help themselves in their
rehabilitation.
Her being a
medical doctor and with legal assistance of her husband, lawyer Russel A.
Bragas, were a great advantage in bringing about a holistic scheme of
rehabilitation for the drug surrenderees in her municipality, residents said.

Apayao
declared drug-free province
KABUGAO, Apayao -- Apayao
is now a drug-free province.
Cordillera police
director Chief Supt. Elmo Francis Sarona made the declaration during the recent
22nd founding anniversary of the province here. He was joined by provincial
officials led by Gov. Elias Bulut Jr. and Cong. Eleanor Begtang with Department
of Interior and Local Government regional director Marlo Iringan and National
Police Commission-CAR regional director Editha Puddoc.
Sarona said the
declaration of the status of being drug-cleared went through a
stringent validation and has complied with the parameters set by the Dangerous
Drugs Board such as non-availability of drug supply, absence of drug
laboratory, clandestine drug warehouse; marijuana cultivation site; drug den,
pusher, user, protector and financer.
Apayao has also
established drug awareness, preventive education and information and other
related programs and voluntary and compulsory drug treatment and rehabilitation
processing desks with the help of active Sangguniang Kabataan members. --

Pasuquin bocap shot dead in bar
PASUQUIN,
Ilocos Norte -- A village councilman was
killed here Feb. 24 by a still unidentified gunman.
Vincent
Manzano of Barangay Dilavo was with his friend Ronald Edurise, 33, when an
unidentified man wearing a mask entered a karaoke bar in Barangay Davila iand
shot him several times.
Police
said Manzano was not on their barangay drug watchlist.
