Man nabbed in Baguio for attempted rape

BAGUIO CITY – A man was arrested here Jan. 24 at Middle Quirino Hill for attempted rape. Nabbed was Jembrey Guidangen Villase, 29 of Kayan, Tadian, Mountain Province. The arrest was made after Judge Maria Ligaya V. Itliong-Rivera of Regional Trial Court, First Judicial Region, Branch 5, Baguio City issued warrant for his arrest.
The judge set bail of ₱120,000 for Villase’s temporary liberty.The suspect was incarcerated at the city jail.

Judge denies bail to man in rape cases

LA TRINIDAD, Benguet – A judge denied bail to a man arrested here Jan. 24 for two counts of rape.Nabbed at Lower Wangal was Jheyrals Cayas Genove after Judge Marietta S. Brawner-Cualing of RTC, Branch 9 La Trinidad, Benguet issued warrant for his arrest. Genove was incarcerated at the town jail. 

Suspect in theft case arrested

BAGUIO CITY – A certain Maribel K. Madiwo was arrested here Jan. 24 for theft. This, after Judge Maria Clarita Casuga-Tabin of MTC, Branch 4, Baguio City issued warrant for her arrest. The judge set bail of P50,000 for Madiwo’s temporary liberty.

Cops nab man for ‘evasion of service of sentence’ 

BAGUIO CITY – Police of this city and nearby La Trinidad, Benguet apprehended a certain Dennis Atoway Jan. 24 for “evasion of service of sentence.” Judge Cleto R Villasorta III of MTCC, Branch 2, Baguio City earlier issued warrant for his arrest with bail set at P12,000.

Judge sets P150-K bail for man in rob case

BAGUUIO CITY – A judge set bail of P150,000 against a man for robbery with intimidation after his arrest here Jan. 24 at Ibalbal, Park 1, Irisan. Nabbed was Roldan Tugay-an after Judge Cecilia Corazon S. Dulay Archog of RTC, Branch 6, Baguio City issued warrant for his arrest.

Fire razes Baguio house 

BAGUIO CITY – Fire destroyed a house here Jan. 25 around 1:40 p.m. Firemen responded to the fire here at Benin, Pinsao Proper. Owned by Dominador Pistola Gallian, the house incurred around P800,000 worth of damage. Cause of fire is yet to be determined.

Cause-oriented groups rally vs ‘US aggression’

BAGUIO CITY --- Police reported militant cause-oriented group members  rallied here at Malcolm Square protesting against “US wars of aggression” like the US-Iran hostilities. A police report identified some rallyists as Sarah Dekdeken, Abi Taningco, Rolando Jigs Grande, Christian Dave Rus, Lumiere Garido and Sherwin De Vera including those from Cordillera Peoples Alliance, Cordillera Movement against Tyranny, Philippine Ecumenical Peace Platform, Anakbayan Cordillera, Innabuyog Gabriela and University of the Philippine Student Council. The police report said rallyists invite everyone to join said activity especially those who have relatives in the Middle East. The report said rallyists were shouting for “just peace.”

23 NPA Milisya ng Bayan members yield in Abra

SALLAPADAN, Abra --Twenty three Milisya ng Bayan members of the New People’s Army here reportedly voluntarily returned to mainstream society through efforts of the municipal local government, police and punong barangays.
 To start their reintegration process, the MLGU organized a meeting between the returnees, the local officials and the Cordillera Police Regional Office at the municipal hall.
The meeting was attended by Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Israel Ephraim Dickson, Abra Police Provincial Office director Col. Alfredo K. Dangani, Sallapadan Mayor Garde Cardenas, Vice Mayor Nenita Cardenas, Sangguniang Bayan members and barangay officials.
Mayor Garde Cardenas cited returnees for heeding to the call of the local govnerment for them to return to the folds of the society, and to live normally with their families.
                Dickson said returnees will be evaluated andcategorized whether they are regular members or contact persons in order to identify assistance or incentives that may be given them. 
                He said  returnees can be integrated through the Enhanced Comprehensive Local Integration Program (ECLIP) after their evaluationbythe PNP and AFP.
The returnees, he said, can avail of various programs and free training services of government offices.
                He assured security for the returnees during their reintegration process.
                Dickson recognized the role of the LGUs in fighting insurgency by mobilizing barangay officials especially in the farthest communities to engage with the people, to communicate the programs of the government and to persuade rebels to return to the mainstream in line with Executive Order 70 or the Duterte Administration’s whole of nation approach to end local communist armed conflicts in the country. Cordillera cop chief welcomes PNP chief

CAMP DANGWA, Benguet -- The leadership of the Police Regional Office Cordillera welcomed the appointment of Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa as chief the Philippine National Police.
PRO-Cor Regional Director Brig. Gen. Israel Ephraim Dickson said it is high time to have a full-time Chief PNP  and Gen. Gamboa is very much qualified  for the position.
                “I know him well because he was my former boss when he was the Chief of the Directorial Staff at Camp Crame,” Dickson said.  "As professionals in the police force, we continue to give our full support. This will also end speculations and all doubts as to who should be the C PNP,” he added.
President Rodrigo Duterte sworn in Gamboa as the new PNP chief on Monday, Jan. 20.
He is the 23rd PNP chief. 
Prior to his appointment, the four-star general who belongs to the Philippine Military Academy “Sinagtala” Class of 1986, served as PNP officer in charge for three months following the retirement of PNP chief Oscar Albayalde. 
With the appointment of Gamboa, it is expected that there would be changes in the chain of command in the PNP organization, and vacant positions should be filled up, Dickson explained. (JDP/JBZ- PIA CAR)

 Cops confiscate P20-M MJ, firearms in plantation raid

CAMP QUIRINO, Ilocos Sur- Police raided Wednesday a marijuana plantation that resulted to the confiscation of some P20 million worth of illegal drugs and cache of guns and arrest of alleged cultivator in Sitio Palali, Barangay Licungan, Sugpon, Ilocos Sur.
Police reported government troops led by Lt Jerry Arzabal, swooped down on the remote area after a judge issued search warrant in the name of Sanny Taypew, resident of the area.
The search warrant was issued by Michael V. Francisco, acting presiding judge of RTC 25, Tagudin, Ilocos Sur against Taypew.
Nabbed was Bennipher “Kuwaing” Deponio Licudan, 22, single, and resident of nearby Sitio Lanipew, BarangayTacadang, Kibungan, Benguet..
The suspect is now under the custody of Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency-Ilocos Region, police said.
A police report said earlier around 8 a.m. that day, police informed the family of Taypew in Palali thay have a warrant to search their house.  Confiscation from the residence were a Cal. 30 Carbine, two rifles with unknown caliber, two Cal. 22 rifles, one Cal.38 revolver, detonating cord, four blasting caps and four dynamite sticks.
Also confiscated from the house were around 10 kilos of marijuana valued at P1,250,000, half kilo marijuana seeds valued at P12,500 and half kilo marijuana fruiting tops worth P62,500.
Taypew was not arrested as he was not around during the operation.
Confiscated items are now under the custody of Sugpon police.
