TINGLAYAN, Kalinga -- —
More than P13 million worth of marijuana was destroyed by joint forces of the
Kalinga Provincial Police Office (PPO), Tinglayan Municipal Police Station and
the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) Cordillera during a two-day
eradication operation here in Barangay Loccong recently.
The
anti-illegal weed operation under “Oplan 09 Juliet Lagpot” was conducted after
relevant information from the communities was gathered by the team of Kalinga
police director Col. Davy Vicente Limmong.
Operating
teams discovered July 18 a site with more or less 6,000 fully-grown marijuana
plants (FGMJP) covering a land area of around 1,500 square meters (sq. m.) and
valued as having an estimated Dangerous Drug Board value of P1,200,000.
In the
afternoon of the same day, the team discovered a bigger plantation spanning an
estimated area of 3,000 sq. m. with more or less 60,000 of FGMJP, valued at
around P12,000,000.
No cultivator
was arrested during the operations.
Limmong
appealed to the community for support in relation to the government’s war on
drugs.
“This
sustained marijuana eradication to affected areas is a continuous activity of
our operatives to remove these plants to prevent it from growing again and
until such time that these areas are all cleared” Limmong said.
