Apayao bocap sued for wedding; nixing Covid rules

 STA. MARCELA, Apayao -- A barangay captain of Barangay San Mariano here is now facing charges after being reported to the authorities for violating Republic Act 11332 known as "Mandatory reporting of notifiable diseases and health events of public health concern Act.”
    Cordillera police director Brig. Gen. Ronald O. Lee identified the official as  Bobby Daquioag, 52, of San Mariano. 
Town police received a call from Sta. Marcela mayor Evelyn B. Martinez, on June 7 of a complaint on an alleged violation of RA 11332 in a wedding celebration that transpired in the residence of Eddie Corpuz at San Mariano on May 28.
    Police said Martinez submitted pictures taken during the occasion that showed the number of attendees were in violation to standard health protocol.
    Police said witnesses confirmed the wedding attended by many visitors among whom was Daquioag.
Martinez said she did not issue any clearance nor permit for the event as Apayao is still under modified enhanced community quarantine (MECQ).
    Daquioag reportedly allowed the wedding celebration despite knowing prohibitions on the quarantine classification.

Under executive order 18 series of 2021 signed by the provincial governor, Apayao was under MECQ classification from May 10-31.

This was extended until June 15 which meant mass gathering outside residence is prohibited
