CANDON, Ilocos Sur – This province recorded 2,234 total confirmed cases to date. Of this number, 661 were active Covid-19 cases; 1,535 recoveries; and 38 deaths.
This, as three more towns Sur were earlier placed under stricter modified enhanced community quarantine MECQ.
Gov. Ryan Luis Singson earlier issued Executive Order No. 47 placing Burgos, Narvacan, and Sto. Domingo from modified general community quarantine (MGCQ) to MECQ to ensure implementation of stringent quarantine restrictions.
“Despite interventions and implementation of measures, the threat of Covid-19 in the province remains very high and alarming,” Singson said.
There were
recent 14 active cases in Burgos, 34 in Narvacan and 20 in Sto. Domingo.
Meanwhile,
other areas in the province were placed earlier under MECQ. The classification
was lifted in Candon City (June 12); San Vicente and Sta. Maria (June 13);
Cabugao ( June 16); and Vigan City (June 19).
In Candon City, the local government temporarily suspended the acceptance
of returning residents and non-authorized persons outside of residence from the
NCR plus bubble and nearby provinces and regions that were at high risk of
Covid-19 because of the continuous spike of recorded confirmed cases in the
city. However, essential and indispensable travel is allowed as long as
they provide necessary documents mandated by the city government.
The rest of
Ilocos Sur was placed under modified general community quarantine until June
30. -- PIA Ilocos Sur
