Scammer flees with P1.4-M in Ilocos Sur

STA. MARIA, Ilocos Sur -- Eight persons allegedly victimized by scam transactions sought police and barangay officials assistance after they lost P1.4 million to a scammer here in Poblacion Sur.
    Complainants were identified as Angelita Dasalla, 30, online seller, of Poblacion Sur; Analisa Aquino, 49, and her daughter Angelica Calaunan, both of Poblacion Norte and five others, all of Sta. Maria.
    They filed complaints for estafa at the Sta. Maria PNP station against Ellen Frances L. Racadio, 25 of Danuman East of this town for allegedly scamming them, police reported.
    Complainants, according to police report, personally reported at Sta Maria PNP station that they were scammed and fooled by the accused.
    Initial investigation gathered by the police disclosed that sometime on March, 2020, Angelita Dasalla ordered a surgical mask amounting to P100,000 from the accused and sent the money through Palawan Express Pera Padala that was received by the accused.
However, said items were not delivered.
After this, the complainants told police the suspect also borrowed money from Angelita Dasalla amounting to P20,000 and P14,000 plus remaining balance of Nworld beauty products ordered by the accused.
“After these borrowings and failed transactions, the suspect was no longer found at Sta Maria, as of this writing,” said the report.
Police also gathered Racadio also borrowed money from Analisa T Aquino amounting to P600,000; Angelica Calaunan, P24,000; Remedios Dasalla, P41,000; Ma. Olivia, Ayson, P36,000; Jerome Canaoay, P6,000 and Evelyn Daproza amounting to P600,000 .
Police said the complainant and her companions had secured certificate to file criminal action against the suspect that was issued by the punong barangay of  Danuman East, Sta. Maria, against Racadio.
