Docyogen cited as OWWA nat’l Marilag awardee

BAGUIO CITY -- The City Council, during the regular session last Monday passed a resolution commending Maricar Abad Docyogen, this year's Marilag Awards National Woman Entrepreneur 2022.
    From a rigorous regional and overseas search where seven came out as winners, Docyogen was unanimously chosen by the search committee of the 2022 Marilag Awards headed by administrator Hans Leo Cacdac and deputy administrator Arnel Ignacio.
    She was awarded March 29 at Philippine International Convention Center.
    The resolution, penned by Councilor Philian Louise Weygan-Allan, was unanimously approved by the members of the city council.
    “I thank the City Council, especially Ma’am Phillian, for this recognition as it will give the message to thousands of other women OFW leaders and entrepreneurs that the government cares for them,” Docyogen said in an interview.
     Docyogen, a former nurse turned entrepreneur, was acknowledged for her efforts and advocacy to encourage others to forge ahead for the sake of their families and communities. She was a former OFW who worked as a nurse at Saudi Arabia's King Fahad Armed Forces Hospital from 1999 to 2006.
    Docyogen, as the OWWA MARILAG National Winner for Entrepreneurship, is a multi-awarded entrepreneur who belongs to various women and creative organizations including the ALPHA, adviser of a police wive’s organization, the Outstanding Women Leaders of Baguio, Baguio Everlasting Lions Club, The Order of the Eastern Star, the Baguio Tourism Council, the Baguio For Creative City.
    She is also a founding member of Baguio Arts and Crafts Collective, Inc. (BACCI).
     She is a book lover who transformed her love of reading into business. She owns Bookends Bookshop which is located on Claudio Street in Baguio City. She received the Golden Book Awards for Business Excellence in 2015.
    She then established the Pasa-Kalye Group of Artists which seeks to help members in promoting their works of art and popularizing Cordilleran Arts in their own unique ways.
    The Marilag Awards seeks to recognize Filipina Overseas Filipino Workers (OFW)-Regional Community Leaders and Family Welfare Officers from across the country as an acknowledgment and appreciation for their unwavering efforts in assisting the OWWA and its clients.
