‘Motorcycle thief’ slain in ‘shootout’ with Ecija cops

SAN ISIDRO, Nueva Ecija — A man who allegedly stole a motorcycle was killed during a reported shootout with police in this town, authorities said.

Investigators have yet to identify the fatality, who was reportedly one of the two men who took at gunpoint the motorcycle of their victim in nearby General Tinio town on Nov. 13.

Col. Richard Caballero, officer-in-charge of Nueva Ecija police provincial office, said the suspect engaged policemen in a gunfight when he was flagged down.

Forensic investigators recovered the stolen motorcycle, a.45-Cal. pistol and bullets after the armed encounter.
