5 Bontoc villages awarded for early budget submission

BONTOC, Mountain Province - Five barangays are set to receive cash incentive of P10,000 each from the Bontoc local government or their early submission of barangay annual budget fiscal year 2024. Lingbanan said it is a manifestation of the BLGUs’ efforts in advancing the principles of accountability in local governance.
These are barangays Bontoc Ili, Tocucan, Poblacion, Maligcong, and Gonogon.
Said barangays represented by their respective barangay officials earlier received certificates of appreciation from Bontoc Mayor Jerome “Chagsen” Tudlong, Jr. Tuesday.
A reward incentive program initiated by the Municipal Budget Office headed by Municipal Budget Officer Aida Lingbanan, aimed to recognize top performing barangay local government units which submitted their barangay annual budget before the prescribed period.
Tudlong lauded awardees adding these should serve as motivation for other BLGUs to emulate.
The mayor said early preparation and submission of barangay and Sangguiang Kabataan (SK) budget for review by the Sangguniang Bayan of Bontoc has great impact on implementation of barangay programs, projects, and activities that benefit the populace.
Early submission of the barangay annual budget was also attributed to efforts of the offices of the Municipal Budget Officer, Municipal Treasurer, Municipal Planning and Development Officer, Municipal Accountant, Municipal Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Officer and Municipal Local Government Operations Officer which have been going to barangays to conduct budget orientations.
