Work on NLEX hastened for motorists’ faster travel
BY GEORGE TRILLO
SAN FERNANDO CITY, Pampanga – , The ongoing road repairs on portions of the 84-kilometer North Luzon Expressway will be completed soon to make travel for motorists like vegetable dealers in Benguet faster.
The Manila North Tollways Corp. bared this saying work covers the two-kilometer south-bound stretch between San Matias Bridge and Pau Bridge straddling the Bulacan-Pampanga-boundary.
This portion was closed to traffic for six hours (midnight to 6 a.m.) on Thursday, to give way for speedy completion of the maintenance work.
A counter-flow arrangement would be implemented for motorists going to Manila.
Also set for pavement enhancement on July 2 is the two-lane Marilao Interchange. With repair work carried out round the clock, the lanes would be alternately closed for three days each, and would not effect normal flow of traffic on the main tollway.
Pavement work will also be done at the Bocuae northbound exit ramp on the second week of July.
The MNTC said the one lane would remain open to traffic at all times for the duration of the work.
Bautista said despite work on the tollway, vehicular flow would be kept normal level through proper traffic management employing concrete barriers, plastic cones, construction and advisory signages, lighting devices, and counter –flow arrangements in some areas, if necessary.
