Dagupan fiesta promo tour in US a success

DAGUPAN CITY – A three-week tour of the United States undertaken by Mayor Alipio Fernandez Jr. to promote the 2007 Dagupan City Fiesta in December among overseas Dagupenos was a tremendous success. This was disclosed by Councilor Jose Netu Tamayo who was part of Mayor Fernandez’ delegation in recent promotional tour.

The other officials who joined the promotional tour were city administrator Alvin Fernandez and councilor Farah Marie Decano. As a result of that trip, Dagupenos from various parts of the United States are set to arrive this December to only to visit their relatives in Dagupan City but also to participate in this year’s city fiesta and spend their Christmas at home.

Tamayo said that promotional tour was aimed at attracting Dagupenos and other members of the Filipimo communities to participate in the “Pawil Dagupan”, a homecoming program designed to boost local tourism. He said that in that promotional tour, the fiesta executive committee he heads received US$ 1,800 as payment for advertisements placed by overseas Dagupenos in the upcoming fiesta souvenir program. The amount was deposited in the name of 2007 fiesta executive committee in its dollar account with a reputable bank with Dr. Edwin Aguirre and Margie with Dr. Edwin Aguirre and Margie Navata as co-signatories.
