I killed, 1 hurt in Bangued shooting

BANGUED, Abra – One person was killed and another was wounded when an unidentified man suddenly fired at a group of persons who were playing dice at a wake at Sitio Consolado, Lingtan, this town at about 12:30 a.m. on Jan. 28.

Senior Supt. Alexander Pumecha, provincial police director bared this identifying the victim as Edwin Baldemor Fernandez, 29, married, of Barangay Taping, Dolores, Abra, who was reportedly a close-in security of a certain Jayjay Go.

The wounded victim was identified as Kenneth Mosco, alias “Odu,” who was one of the people attending the wake of Petra Barbero.

Police investigation showed the victims and several persons were playing dice at the wake when an unidentified man approached them and fired at them.

Fernandez suffered three bullet wounds in the head and body and died on the spot. Witnesses described the gunman as 5 feet 5 inches in height, slender body and wearing a red T-shirt, plain brown hat, and maong long pants. He immediately fled. -- Dexter See
