BULL’S HIT

BAGUIO CITY -- Some of our men in uniform are doing acts unbecoming of officers and gentlemen. Take this example what my bubwit saw last Sept.7 at about 10:15 a.m. near the market superintendent’s office just a few meters from Compact 1 Station 7 of city police.A certain PO1 Henry Y. Acoking, detailed at the BAMARVA police station grabbed the back of a sales lady who was later identified as Angie Rose Samonte,16, in full public view. Accordingly, this naughty policeman did it twice to the lady, who kept silent out of fear. Jokingly or not, Acoking should observe respect for ladies especially that he wears a uniform reflecting a man that should be respected.
Attention Engelbert Soriano of police Station 7. Perhaps you can teach some good manners and right conduct to this fellow who is under your turf.

Whether we like or not, Baguio is now becoming a city far from something to be proud of because of its garbage problem, air pollution and deteriorating peace and order. Uncollected piles of garbage are here, there and everywhere that anyone who could see them will agree that this beloved city once called the cleanest city is now deserving to to be tagged “garbage city of the north.”

Somewhere along the post office loop, outside the office of the regional office of the Dept. of Transportation and Communications, a billboard was written “This is a smoke belching city free city!” But the sentence ended with “Any violator will be apprehended!” Whew! Are these officials at the DOTC bulag, pipi at bingi, they could not see what is happening under their noses?

With escalating street violence caused mostly by young gang members, snatching and pickpocketing incidents, our concerned authorities should act to stop these unwanted elements. But I guess, they could easily do this if the community will cooperate and help them in guarding and monitoring their areas of concern. It’s never too late to sit down together and draw lines on the drawing board.

I have been an open critic of Tuba Mayor Florencio Bentrez. But this time, I appreciate him for being a concerned constituent of the town when he fought it out together with residents the dumping of garbage at the Irissan Dumpsite in Baguio City. No one could blame the good mayor. The garbage dumped at Irisan could be harmful to neighboring residents of Tuba, the reason why he opted to be against the dumping. Well he is the man and leader now fighting for the welfare of his people. A real, responsible official and not a pul-puliticko. Mabujay ka Apo!

Finally, Sen. Noynoy Aquino declared he would be running president next year. Many Are happy with the announcement but others are saying this could split the opposition making the administration happier watching them from the side lines.
The more the opposition struggle to outdo each other, the merrier for the administration. If no one among the opposition will stand on the center to mediate, then we could expect lesser chance for opposition candidates to make it on the finish line.
Many are now asking if Noynoy could make it since he is bearing the good name of his late parents. Though looking back at his track record makes one blink one’s eyes. If his mother the late former president Cory Aquino were still alive today, would he still be getting the same strong endorsement and support for a presidential candidate like what he is enjoying now?
What about if any of the siblings of the late head of the Iglesia ni Kristo, Erding Manalo come out and enter the picture declaring intent to run for president? I guess the administration would say “good.” Could this be the reason why the palace declared Sept. 7 a non working holiday?
I am lucky my parents were not politicians otherwise it could have led me to a passport for good political endorsement. Good that both of them died without any color of political last will and testament. So nothing political to inherit and nothing to make me a pawn for these political wood pushers who are masters of this game. And if ever I be like Noynoy, will I be kissing the profits of fame of glory or would it be a kiss of death?
