84 gun ban violators nabbed in Cordillera

CAMP DANGWA, La Trinidad, Benguet – Police operatives of the different parts of the Cordillera apprehended 84 individuals for alleged violation of the gun ban being jointly implemented by the Commission on Elections and the Philippine National Police in relation to the upcoming May 2010 synchronized and automated elections.
At he same time, the regional joint security control center reported law enforcers seized from the arrested gun ban gun violators 73 assorted firearms, 10 bladed weapons, and five grenades.
Of the alleged violators, 67 were civilians, nine enforcers, and eight government officials.
Abra topped the list of gun ban violators with 30, followed by Benguet with 15, Baguio City – 13, Ifugao – nine, Apayao with 7, and the Ifugao and Mountain Province with five violators each. The confiscated firearms, bladed weapons and explosives from the gun ban violators were already submitted to the different courts in the city and provinces. – Dexter See
