BONTOC, Mountain Province -- After spending over P3.3 billion for the rehabilitation of the 180-km Baguio-Bontoc-Banaue Road, more popularly known as Halsema Highway, the national government has earmarked P5 million for the construction of three world-class toilets at strategic points of the road.
The Philippine Tourism Authority and the provincial government here will jointly implement the construction of the modern toilets to boost the local tourism industry in the province.
Two toilets will be constructed between Mount Data and Bontoc and a third will be erected near a viewdeck between Bontoc and Banaue.
The project also includes the putting up of appropriate signage pointing to selected tourist spots like the famed Banaue Rice Terraces in Barangay Maligcong, here.
Commuters along the Halsema highway have been complaining on absence of toilets along the stretch of the road resulting to inconvenience of motorists when they travel to tourist destinations. -- Dexter A. See

Really? Toilets? Are you sure?
I mean, the road rehabilitation project is even cheaper than that of the "world-class" toilet project.
Is it made of Gold?
Wouldn't straightening the roads and making sure that it will last be a better idea? Or any other idea is better. I hope its not a scheme to obtain the P5 million. IF you continue with it, I hope it would better be something you call "world class." But if you decide not to push it through, hope it will be a better project.
