Son hacks father dead over dinner squabble

CANDON CITY, Ilocos Sur- The son who hacked recently to death his own father appeared to be mentally-deranged, a top police official said Wednesday.

Supt. Marlo Castillo, chief of police here, said Mario Binas-o, 38 of Barangay Palacapac, this city, repeatedly hacked dead his own father identified as Rodolfo Binas-o, 64 while the two were eating inside their house.

Investigation showed the victim scolded his son for unknown reason when the suspect suddenly grabbed a jungle bolo and hacked several times his own father, resulting to his death.

“Lumilitaw na may deperensiya sa ulo tong anak ng biktima dahil napagalaitan lang ng kunti ay pinagtataga na niya tong tatay niya,” said Castillo.

Castillo said, however, that the suspect voluntarily surrendered to the police right after hacking to death his father.
