Bontoc youth to clean Chico River as part of ‘Am-among’ festival

BONTOC, Mountain Province – The youth here will conduct a “massive clean-up” of the Chico River as part of the Am-among Festival of this capital town slated Sept. 11 to 17 which will feature activities of the Sangguniang Kabataan on their advocacies like reproductive health and dengue awareness.
SK president Jervis Cole G. Apolinar said the “seminar-workshop on integrating concepts on population, reproductive health and environment (P-RH-E) in leadership” will develop responses of young leaders towards issues on population, health, and environment through leadership,”
Around 60 student leaders from five high schools of the municipality will participate: Saint Vincent’s High School, Mountain Province General Comprehensive High School- Bontoc Campus and Barangay. Tocucan Annex, Talubin National High School and ALBAGO National High School.
The activity will be held at The Pearl Café on Sept. 11-12.
In observance of the rising dengue cases which killed over 429 Filipinos as of January this year, the participants will participate in a “clean-up drive kontra dengue” through cleaning activities of the Chico River.
The activities are projects of the Sangguniang Kabataan Federation of Bontoc.
