100,000 attend Vigan Longganiza Festival

VIGAN CITY, Ilocos Sur -- Once again, Vigan City’s Longganisa Festival proved to be one of the biggest crowd-drawing occasions in Northern Luzon as around 100,000 tourists attended the daylong festivities last week.
Local and foreign tourists joined local residents as they frolicked in the streets and watched the street dancing showdown participated in by12 contingents.
The dancing groups were divided into two categories: Category A, for group members age of 16 and below; and Category B for group members with ages 17 and above.
Vigan City Mayor Eva Marie Singson Medina thanked all sectors that supported the event which kicked off the city’s string of festivals that include the “ArtesIta a Semana” in April; the “Viva ViganBinatbatan” or Festival of the Arts (May); the Vigan Solidarity Festival (September); the “Raniag” or Twilight Festival (November); and the Artesita a Paskua Festival and Lantern and Torch Parade (December).
