5 nabbed for illegal firearms and bullets

PENARUBIA, Abra – Five men were nabbed here in separate incidents last week for illegal possession of firearms.

Three men riding a motorcycle were arrested here Feb. 1 after they were flagged down by police and found in possession of a handgun with a magazine loaded with seen bullets.

A police report said cops led by Supt. Juan C. Collo were on patrol at the poblacion spotted the suspects aboard a motorcycle and flagged them.

They were identified as Delinger D. Omnas, 27of Poblacion; Jay Ferdinand J. Singson, 28 and Elorde C. Diaz, 19, both residents of Baac, Langiden town in the province.

The suspects failed to show documents pertaining to the firearm found in their possession so they were brought to the town police station.

A case to be filed in court was readied against them for illegal firearms.

In a related incident, police also nabbed in Calaba, Bangued Jan. 31 a certain Ricky Batawang, 25 of Cogon, Tineg for illealposeesion of a firearm and bullets.

A police report said while on patrol, police noticed the suspect with a companion on board a motorcycle that suddenly stopped, wherein one of the riders immediately fled away after seeing the operatives proceeding to their location.

Confiscated from the suspect was a Cal 45. Springfield Armory pistol with loaded with bullets.

The suspect failed to show documents for the firearm so he was brought to the town police station for interrogation.

In another incident, police arrested Jan. 31 Ariel D. Sinogo at his house in Barangay Laang. Lagangilangtonw, also in the province for illegal possession of firearms.

Police served a warrant which resulted in confiscation of one baby Armalite rifle one magazine loaded with five bullets, one 9mm Lugger (Uzi) with two banana type magazines loaded with two bullets and two more for Cal. 45.

The search was witnessed by Punong Barangay Mary-annAtmosfera and Kagawad Edgar Aborje.

Confiscated pieces of evidence were brought at the Office of Abra Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit while a court case was prepared against Sinogo.
